2005 Steeda V6 Cold Air Kit

http://www.steeda.com/PR/Newsletters...5/555-3124.htm

The kit is supplied with a stainless steel air box with built-in velocity stack and CNC billet aluminum mass air meter. It mounts in the factory location with the supplied rubber trim to seal it against the hood & fender to keep the hot air out. Our tests showed inlet temps a mere 10 degrees above ambient temperature. The Steeda Lifetime Filter can easily be cleaned and re-oiled, making maintenance a snap. All hardware required for installation is included in the kit.

We've found between 16 -20 more rear wheel horsepower with this kit. Is this true? Has the 2005 v6 changed that much from our 3.8 v6

NO FKING WAY. The only gains you will get from a cold air are minimal from the filter. Most will come from replacing the rubber, ribbed tubing with smooth metal tubing. Less resistance on top end.

It doesn't even replace the ghey stock rubber thing.

SERIOUSLY! What a ****in rip. If I had an 05 GT I'd just supercharge it and skip the $300 "air filter that has a heat shield on it"

Just so you guys know I believe they were seeing the 16-20hp gain fron the intake as well as the sct tuner that they talked about in the ad for it. I highly doubt steeda would say just an intake gives that kind of power.

Talk to RGR, we played around with my stock rubber intake hose, and it really didnt have that much res to airflow, its all for looks...

yeah, I didn't really notice much of a difference when I put my CAI on.... just a slight whistle when I really get on it, which I LOVE...... but as for power........ not really. I know it's faster, just not something you feel.

the only way it could make that much power, is if the original airbox was THAT restrictive, when i took the airbox out of my turbo coupe, without actually setting up a cold air, i picked up about 5-7rwhp (i havnt dyno tested that, but others have, and got roughly the same amounts, give or take 1 or 2), and it sure seemed like it

im doubting that the stock airbox in the '05 is seriously that restrictive

well, I know what they did.... if you put their decal on your car, the hp increase is automatically doubled.... your car knows you put the decal on it, and realizing this, says "hey guys..... we gotta put out 10 more hp"

lol.... NOZZZZZZ, hahaha.... my friend got a sticker that says "X-racing" on his Cavalier, and he thought that would give him the edge up on my car ... I'm not even kidding you.... so then he decided that didn't give him enough.... (I wasn't even past 3/4 throttle and still owning him) so he went and got the MATCHING STEERING WHEEL COVER....... hahahaha

no. but there is something that is after the filter that you can remove and it gives less restriction on your intake. but for $300 you dont even get the tubing that goes to the throttle body thats lame

the stock intake and exhaust on an 05 V6 is corked from what i understand, therefore, "uncorking" it with a less restrictive intake and exhaust will give better gains than a 3.8/3.9, but not that much that is being claimed.

the bend that most cai's take that puts the fender in the fender well arc the air comming in so the meter reads it a little diff. it adjusts the a/f and this can raise hp/tq a tad also.
