this has got to be the weirdest thing thats happened to me

this happened a while back, before i joined here, but i thought i would share it and see if anyone else has had this happen to them

well, as far as i can remember

so i'm turning into circuit city to pick up some blank cds. as i head through the parking lot looking for a space, i pass up a shuttle bus with a bunch of foreign people dressed very professionally (they were all in suits). they were all staring at me as i drive by them. but i dont think nothing of it. i go in, pick up my needed materials and as i'm headed to my car i notice that those same guys that were staring at me as i drove by were all looking at my car. i was like "oh man, what do these people want" as i approach my car i notice that they are each taking turns standing in front of it taking pictures. so anyway as i walk up to my car, these guys are staring at me and one walks up to me and asks if this is my car (they were all foreign so i'm assuming this was the only one who spoke english). i'm like "yeah, why" he asks if i could unlock the door. seeing these people, i could now tell that they definately mean no harm, so i was like "sure, why not." when i open the door they all gaze in and one pulls out a digital camera and pans inside my car while a couple others took pics. after this they all shook my hand and the only one that spoke english thanked me for my time. being very stunned and confused, i just got in my car and went home.

still cant figure where these people came from, but as i was driving off i noticed that those same guys walked over to a camaro in the parking lot and proceeded to do the same thing.

my only guess is that a mustang over there is maybe like a ferrari over here. not that i am comparing my car to a ferrari, just comparing the rareity. its not everyday i see a ferrari or a lambo or something like that

Overseas, a car like ours is a big rareity. It is considered an honor to have your picture taken. You should be honored.

You should have taken advantage and given a few sweet Asian sweeties a ride!!

Yeah, our cars are very rare overseas. Ask NorwegianStang or any of the European members we have. We had a guy in Japan, he said there were like 5 in the whole country.

I just remember when I was in Europe, and Ferraris and Lambos were on every block it seemed like.

Ha cool stuff man. I just love it when little kids start staring at my car and screaming at their parents about it.

yeah that is a great feeling when people drive by just staring with their mouths wide open just about to drool out the window like a dog

I was going to a school on a machine I fix out in Santa Clara, CA. One of the guys in the class was there from Ireland. We were talking cars and he was bragging up this 2.0L motor as being big. I kinda chuckled and told him that my 64 Chrysler 300 had a 413. Which is something over 6L. That, of course, led to a discussion as to how I could afford the "road tax" and gasoline.

Apparently they get walloped in taxes for anything over 2L and pay alot for gas. I paid $38.00 a year in taxes and whatnot to register my car and gas was cheap back then. Like a $1/gal for super.
