Thinking about selling my car...

...for a Jeep wrangler. My car has been running like **** lately and i really can't stand the v6 any more. I applied for a loan for a motor swap but got rejected, perfect credit, just not enough. I went for a ride in my friends jeep the other day with the top off and the doors off and it was a lot of fun. So ive been thinking about trading for one or selling my car and buying one. Discuss. (talk me out of it)

YES!!!! Talk you out of it, gah, I will do everything in my power to talk you into it! I loved my jeep, Just make sure it has the 6 cyl. Stay away from the SE models (4banger) Thats the only thing I did not like about mine, was the 4 popper. And I hope you can drive 5spd cause if you get an auto jeep, I will shoot you. Ask anything you want to know, I know a lot.

If i could do what i want i would get a GT but i cant so thats why im thinking this. A jeep would be nice for towing my jet ski and going offroading and riding around with no doors. This would not be the end of me owning mustangs. As soon as i have a career i will and i mean WILL have an 04 cobra or an 07.

I'll tell you this much...my friend got one...has had nothing but problems. We had to redo his floorboards, engine, just had his tranny rebuilt at the price of 2000, new rear end, new driveshaft, etc etc etc. Any vehicle you get is gonna have costs, might as well put the money into a car you know will run...

if you don't plan on going off-road.. its a basically 60 year old design..

your mustang is only a 30 year old design

if you can live with a vehicle that rides worse, rattles worse, has less room, gets ****tier gas mileage (et al)... than your mustang go for it

i'm just in shock cause i know how much u love ur car, and how much u love mustangs in general...but u need to do what u need to do...personally, i like jeeps...one of my best friends had one and him and i used to go off roading in it, or taking it out in the summer with the top completely off...it was fun...but he traded it in cause he needed something more practical (can't drive a jeep in newark)...but its a decision that u need to make and all of us here will support u either way

Winters suck in a Jeep, rain sucks in a jeep, everything but perfect sun sucks in a jeep. I wouldn't mind one...but only as a good weather driver. They don't like interstate speeds, too much rattling going on.

Your experience is with a yj, they suck, the newer 97+ TJs are awesome, never had a problem with rain or cold, and i had a sucky steel horse top on it. And whoever said it was a 60 year old design. No. Sorry. That is incorrect.

Never ridden in a newer TJ to be honest, just YJ's, and all the guys I know with jeeps have nothing but problems.

TJs are SO much better, they spent alot of time on the change from the YJ to the TJ which is why you can't find a 96 Jeep Wrangler anywhere, and if you do, its bs. The new TJs came out in late 96 model year as a 97. They never offered a 96. They are so much better than they were.

wranglers look the same, and are on the same basic platform back to the mid 1940s if not earlier..

prove me wrong please, that's how I learned it and I'm sure I'm wrong but I'd like the info to back it up

I was under the impression that like the mustang the wrangler was the same basic design with massive upgrades

hell they still look the same outside...

They actually look pretty different outside...headlights, grill, etc etc etc. Interior is completely different.
