| this is rediculous
ok so i was out on I-80 ( major highway ) in the fast lane , speed limit is 65 i was just cruising along at like 72,73. bunch of people infront of me, not many behind me. All the sudden a trooper comes up the fast lane gets behind me and rides up my ass to the point where i couldnt see his headlights anymore i was gonna move but i said f**k it if he hits me ill just own a damn police station thats all. After about 5min his lights go on and he pulls me over asks for liscense registration insurance w/e then tells me im being pulled over for failure to keep right and that when a cop rides your bumper that means get out of the way . So i told him all that he had to do was turn on his flashers and i would have gladly got out of his way if he was in a rush to get anywhere which i doubt he was anyway. He didn't say much about that comment so i followed up by saying hundreds of people cruise in the fast lane per day including the people infront of me so i said " does that mean all these hundreds of people break the law everyday " and he said yes which to me is rediculous i never heard anything like that..i got off with a warning but cops in this state suck [/rant]

its illegal to ride in the fast lane for more than two miles unless for the purpose of passing (which has to be done at no more than the speed limit (taken right from my troopers training manual)

thats why there are signs that say "stay right, pass left"...thats what that lane is for...if ur traveling in the fast lane and theres no one in the slower lane, ur supposed to be in the slower lane
imo if a cop came flying up behind me, i would have moved

well as 04stang said theres the lights for a reason if he needed to get somewhere he could have used them, he didnt come flying up or anything just driving like everybody else would be cept few inches from my back bumper that shows me he was obviously not in a rush to get anywhere so i wasnt going to move just like everybody on the road they should have to abide by the law as well so he was just another driver on the road thats all no offense 2 u nicole but you know how many people just cruise the fast lane the fact that i acually got pulled over for that was definitely a cop having either A. a bad day or B. looking to bust balls cuz he had nuttin better to do with his time

i would have probably moved too, just b/c i dont like cops behind me. but i think that if he were in a real hurry, or had to attend to an emergency, then he should have flipped on his lights. and dark02 really didnt say if he was passing while he was crusing behind the other cars. the way he phrased it though, i'm gonna have to assume he wasnt passing which means the other lane was open which also means that if he were in a real hurry and had to attend to an emergency, then he could have gotten in that lane.
arent cops supposed to have their lights on when they are going to an accident or pursuing someone anyway? |

roadside assistance, stuff like that...but sometimes they don't use the lights and sirens cause it can catch people off guard and cause more problems than they started with

As far as riding in the left lane, I hate people like you. MOVE THE **** OVER!!!! Just ride in the right, pass on the left when you need to, its not too difficult and really inst inconveniencing you at all.

you know what i find amusing. on like a four lane interstate when the student drivers are on there...........they usually stay in the middle. so pass them on the right, get in front of them, get over one lane to the left and slow down and let them pass you on your right, get behind them, then get over to the left one lane, and pass. then repeat. |

| thats a rule for cops only right?
hrm they fly by me all the time on the freeway doing 90ish and theyll be in the fast lane from the time i see their headlights on the horizon to the time i cant see their tails anymore. i should get their car # and call their asses in. unless its just a state law.

Practicially every cop in new jersey thinks hes/shes above the law

This is an example of revenue enhancment. Almost every state has certain laws that could bust most of us at any time. I like driving on the Left hand side. In Atlanta driving on 85 everyone drives to the left lanes unless you are gettin off at the nearest exit.
Following to close is another one. A friends mother just got one following to close in bumper to bumper traffic
Most of these tickets can be reduced or dismissed if you show to court.

people dont know how to drive, the tests are to easy. You ride in the right lane unless you are passing. and some states worry about it some done. I ONLY ride in the right lane when i am passing or at night cuz its safter to keep from hitting crap... (and only on the open hwys where hitting possums and crap is normal.
