Blue sky + big trees + 1 gust of wind = CRAAAACK!!!

So I get home, take off my shoes. Then there is one gust of wind. What do I hear...CRAAAACK!!!!!

I'm just glad these fell the way they did. They shift 90* and they land on the house...and more importantly the cobra.

I guess I know what I will be doing this weekend...and maybe the next.

BTW, anyone have a chain saw I could use?

I'd come help...but I do that every day. Just take your time, wouldn't happen to have somewhere you can haul it off and burn it would ya? It'd come out alot cheaper than having it hauled off. O yeh..ya might wanna fix the fence too...

there must have been something wierd wrong with it because it looks healthy, but there's no way a gust of wind could knock a tree that big down if it was healthy

glad it didn't bust anything

Check for carpenter ants, had to cut down 3 big healthy looking trees b/c of them this week. They attack the center and kill the tree that way, and the tree just falls over.

There is a weird strait line halfway through the tree where it broke off. It is rotten along that line. It looks as though when that part was at the ground level, someone tried to cut it down but gave up. And ever since it has been rotting along that line. It also looks as though the tree next to it has the same line at about the same height. I am going to check that out tomorrow and see. At least if that one goes alone the line like this one did, it will be in the neighbor's pool, so that should be ok....for me anyhow.

As for hauling it...forget that. Firewood time. Might only need it for like 2 months of the year down here...but I can always sell what I don't expect to use.

And, Brad...feel free to swing by. You can watch...we just need a damn saw. No one seems to have one and I don't feel like renting one...or buying one.

THe tree it hit looks like it might have the ant issue. It is completely hollow in the center even 15' up.

Yeah, I figure AAA rents them...as will Lowes and Home Depot...I am just trying to get out of it without spending anything. Since it will take more than one weekend for my dad and I to get that thing cleared out...if I need to rent one multiple days, I may as well buy one and save the effort later when I need to take down a few more trees in the yard.

I would rather use the money it would take to fix the fence to buy stuff for the car. The fence is still standing...so no sense in fixing it. Besides, I just moved in here like 2 months ago...and there are many, many things inside to fix as the previous owner is and was totally clueless...like walpapering over outlets...WITHOUT PUTTING THE FACE PLATES ON!!!!. Just push the plug through the paper. There, it's hidden. And painting the sinks and vanity tops in the bathrooms.
