d00d im getting another dell

yup, i luv mah dells.

Dell Inspiron 600m Laptop(only dell with the serial port i need)
Pentium M 725(1.6ghz/400mhz FSB)
256mb DDR SDRAM 1 DIMM
40gb hd
CD/DVD-RW(i believe that means its also a dvd burner, not like it matters)
and more **** i cant think of right now

for 850 to my door. parents will be putting 400 on it(since they bought my sister a 400$ guitar for her bday, they have to equal it out) and ill just pay off the rest as i please.

i really only wanted to get around a 1ghz laptop for around 400 bucks, but my parents said no to that, not like they own me, but talked me into getting new cause of warranties and ****, and said if i went new they would add in the 400 i would be getting for my bday, that was supposed to go to a nice keg, firepit and food for my bday(gonna get fitshaced w00t) but ill be paying for that myself.

this dam DSMlink tuning **** has cost more than most of the rest of the mods on my car(the turbo and fuel system added all up was only 1300). since the actual dsmlink program is 500, the laptop now 800, and the eprom ecu i need was 300, its 1600 bucks, just so i can tune better. itll be less after i sell the now useless SAFCII and Palm that ive been using to tune with for around 300.

once again my motto bites me in the ***, you gotta pay to play the game.

I lost faith in dell after we got my folks a PC, the thing was horrible and it was supposed to be better than my 700 Mhz Dell. It was like a 1.2 Ghz with not a lot of bells and whistles but the thing just plain sucks.. Hope yours turns out better than the one they gave us

well its main purpose is car tuning. but i work at a little bar and grill kinda dealy, and the cook in the back blasts annoying mexican pop/techno/dance music(i like techno/trance, but the **** they have just plain sucks teh big one), so i can take it to work with the music i like and set it on our counter in the back and listen to what i like after everyone leaves(which is when the mexican crap comes on). plus i should be able to leech off of some of the housing nearby the mall(or hack into their WAN networks) and bango, ill be browsing the forums when its super boring later in the day(before dinner).

and dude, thats a beautiful shot of britney. thats the picture taken of her after she woke up next to kevin federline right?

I got me a 700m. It's the smallest one they make, but there's no serial port. I'm a long way off from needing to do any tuning, but if I do I figure I can get one of those USB/serial adapters. I mainly lug mine around, use the wifi, and watch movies on it. We've had four Dells (three desktops and a laptop), and I've been happy with them. My brother's is the only one that's given us any trouble. The power supply died on it, so Dell came out an replaced it.

What do you mean by good? Gaming laptops? I love this one that I've got and it only cost me about $1,200. It won't play games, but I've got a big-*** desktop unit for that.

This one has a 2.0ghz P4M and a gig of ram. It would probably play old games, but no CoD or Doom III or any of that ****. I just use it for movies, chat, email, and WWW.

yeah though theres a downside with those adaptors. it usually cuts down on the transfer rate. DSMlink can do up to 300 bits a second of data(as compared to 9 bits a second my pocketlogger/palm does), but put the adapter on it, and you could be cut down by half in terms of transfer rate. same with people running DSMlink on a PDA, they say their bitrates suck compared to their laptop bretheren. more bits per second you recieve, the more accurate your graphs will be. also the more bits a second you can transfer, the more things you can monitor.

example. at 9b/s on my palm, im able to monitor rpm, o2 volts and timing. thats the extent of its ability. at 300b/s i can monitor everything. plus dsmlink has a useable knock sensor, and i can make it so it makes my CEL blink whenever it pickes up knock, telling me to back off.
