Complete speculation

This is off-topic on every basis besides the fact that it deals with cars, but I ran across this guy today who had an rsx-s and asked him how much better it was than the regular rsx. He claimed 240 hp with intake and a "Y" pipe. From what I understood those cars responded well to mods but 240hp? He also said he beat a modded 350z...which makes me wonder. I'm kinda doubting that he's telling the truth but thought I may ask around before I decided whether or not I wanted to believe him. Because I was driving my brothers car at the time, I told him that if I ever saw him around we'd find a desolate road and see what we could manage.

hmm i thought the engine was slightly differently tuned as well. possibly a diff cam setting? but doubtful he beat a modded z32 unless the Z wasnt racing

a unmodded geo metro can beat a viper if the driver is bad enough. IMO, he is lying about the horsepower but he might not be lying about the 350z.

the RSX-S is a very quick little bugger for only 200hp. though i seriously doubt intake and exhaust gave him 40hp. but when my buddy had one, we slapped a pep boys filter and a 3" exhaust with test pipe(cat delete pipe) and it did make a very big difference. i hate to say, but on that car with the little mods done, VTEC now made a difference. id say around 15hp on a cold day. it made my 94 tbird look like i was standing still when we raced.

and 350z's arent very fast at all. i got one by a carlength at 100 back when i was still running my t25. so i dont doubt if they went from a roll that the rsx pulled on him a bit.

3" exhaust? Isn't that kind of big for that engine?

I always thought what the rsx-s's wanted was something called hondata. Although I never knew what it was, I heard it was what made them fast. I imagine it's a chip or programming of some sort?

going from my stock restrictive 2.25" catted exhaust on my car to a 3" catless exhaust didn't even make 40hp. It made about 30whp, but all FI cars get restrictive exhausts from the factory to meet EPA federal requirements.

The type-s isnt FI and with just a catback and intake, no, he did not get 40hp. The 350s arent fast, but they are faster than an RSX-S. The 0-60 for the S is about 6.1sec and 1/4 in 14.8. The Z is at about 5.4 and 14.1 respectivly. 7tenths in the 1/4 is about 7 car lengths. I think it would take more than exhaust and intake on one of those to beat a Z. (stats off of car-stats.com -- not the most accurate, but reasonably close)

14.1 sounds about right for the Z to me. Everyone here is saying that they're not fast, and perhaps they're not, but I think they're pretty respectable. They seem to do alright after some mods.

My buddy has a rsx-s and threw in cams and a full borla exhaust and barely tipped 250 hp. That guy is lying to you... suprised he didn't tell you the stickers on his car was good for 5-10 hp. Can't trust rice burners!
