btw if youre smart you dont need school to find jobs that you can make just as much as if you spent 30k on useless schooling.

I agree. Not to mention in college you get access to lots of cool things you wouldn't have access to otherwise (at least as far as science is concerned).

I'm debating on whether or not I'm going back this semster or next. I already have my bachelors in Media Arts, but I'm not doing much with it, so I'm in between careers and would go back so I can finally be a certified sports trainer, and do some auto tech on the side since I love cars

thats one of the best loads of crap I have heard in a good long time... you go to school to get the tools... you get a job with the degree (which you still dont have experience for of course...) then you learn from experience how to use the tools you have gained... you can do it with out college.. but you are at a SEVERE disadvantage....

picking the correct degree is of course a good thing... spending 10 years to get a BA in ... geography.. wtf... not that thats bad.. but dont ***** about not making crap.

You can of course get a good job with out college.. its just not nearly as easy to find and keep until you have been there a while... I perfer a good education myself.

I also plan to get my masters from UAH mark.. just a matter of getting a job that will pay for it if possible lol.

If you think education is a waste of money - hard work in highschool pays off to hard work in college which pays off to $$$. I made good enough grades in high school to have other people pay for me to go to a pretty good university which costs $33k a year plus put me as one of 23 freshman in the engineering honors program which will look damn good on a resume one day. Plus I plan on joining the SAE team and interning during the summers to build up a good resume before I graduate. I am a firm believer in higher education if you can't tell. Want to compare paychecks in 6 years?

I've only been out of school for about 15 months and I'm already makin close to a 6 figure salary doing somthing I didn't even go to school for, though I'm planning on going back because I want to fulfill a career in something that is a hobby. Yeah, you can't knock college, you'll never know, there's always one class that catches your attention and you might want to pursue something in that field, that's how I became a personal trainer with an art degree

But I think what our friend is pointing out is the horriffic tale of the "lucky" high-school drop-outs that somehow wind up being millionaires, and the rest of us struggle to make ends meet, and a good number of us are well educated, kinda sucks to think of that

A lot of the highschool drop-outs that become wealthy are intrapreneurs which isn't exactly a job you "get" or make a resume for.

I think I'd rather be educated and have a slightly less paying job than someone who dropped out of HS or didn't go to college and has a little more money than me.

I despise ignorance though.
