Newest MGW Shifter!

Here it is... the latest and greatest. The new orange handle provides a short throw with a comfortable position. No need to decide on the blue or red handle anymore. I got to test one out on a customer's car and it rocks. I have these ready to ship with free gasket sets!

I spoke with the owner of MGW and he explained that the handles are not interchangeable. Kind of sucks for people that have either the blue or red handle already. I love the orange handle because it sits perfectly. It is short but also very comfortable.

Re: Newest MGW Shifter!

How arent they interchangable? It has the exact same mounting method as mine does... youd just take the blue one off and throw that one on. I dont see why its not interchangable lol

Re: Newest MGW Shifter!

they made it a different diameter so you would have to order a whole new shifter?

Re: Newest MGW Shifter!

I have no idea. George and I talked about a month ago and thats what he said. Maybe he changed it so you could use the orange handle on the older shifters. I will check it out.

Zim, check SVTP because there was a whole thread about this shifter about a month or so ago. I swear I remember people talking about possible trades of their blue handles for the orange and what not...meaning it is just as you think, just another handle to mount on the shifter.

On a related note, 1quick6, do you have the shifters as well? I am thinking of ditching my tri-ax for the MGW as I Am still not completely happy with the steeda. Keep in mind, I am looking for the T56 version.

Re: Newest MGW Shifter!

Ok, I did a quick search too...

This is the one I was refering to...and it says you need the new shifter...but, if you read down to post #19, you can ship your current shifter back and they will upgrade it for you. Anyhow, this has the most info.

This one talks about hotswapping the handles...so, I guess it is can be done.

Re: Newest MGW Shifter!

what keeps the handle from sliding side to side on the shifter shaft. I like the design... if I had it to do over now I would get the MGW.

Re: Newest MGW Shifter!

So has anyone here had both the MGW and the Tri-Ax? I am contemplating getting this one because I am not completely sold on the Tri-Ax that is currently installed. I loved the Tri-Ax for the 5 speed I had in the GT, but, there is something I don't like about the 6 speed version of it. The 2-3 and 3-4 shifts just don't feel as good as they did in the previous version.
