Cobalt SS vs STI

http://videos.streetfire.net/Player....63FD1E0119&p=0

Yeah right..

a 205hp car vs a 300 hp car..

who's willing to bet that wasn't an STi..

was that even 85?

I call bull**** on the vid, the driver sounds like a dumbass too

Re: Cobalt SS vs STI

STi comes stock w/ the tall wing unless its JayDeeEm, then its optional.

edit: even if it was an STi, the guy couldn't have been really trying to race then.

and an SS loaded w/ 3 people will not beat one for sure

and he's ghey. "that is sooo goin on the internet that is so goin on the internet. i got the speedometer and the guy"

maybe in KMH, but that looked more like 45

Re: Cobalt SS vs STI

Saw this earlier too. All I know is I nearly fell asleep waiting for them to hit 85, but I don't think they went 85. What is the speedo in a cobalt? The needle only went to like the halfway point, maybe just past. Now, my 160 speedo has 85 right around the halfway point...and I can't see a cobalt having a 160 speedo...unless chevy has the speedo and the tach reversed, which I highly doubt. Considering they were on what looked to be a crowded road, I am thinking 45 is more the correct speed...Either way, it took forever. That dude would certainly fall to the fury of the 3.9 that I have heard so much about.

Re: Cobalt SS vs STI

i dont really want to waste time by watching it, but i highly doubt a cobalt SS is gonna even keep next to a bunk *** stock impreza, let alone a STi. maybe if the cobalt was running lots of bewst on a built engine, itll still get outlaunched and wont be able to catch up till well after 100mph.

I don't think that is the real cobalt speedo. Here is chevy's pic of the cobalt speedo.

Needless to say, he wasn't doing 85. Things would be going by faster than what they were.

Looked like the 2.5RS impreza.. not the WRX, and definately not the WRX-STI

Nice, a POS Cobalt with 4 guys can race a Subaru that doesn't even know they are there..

Re: Cobalt SS vs STI

d00ds dont trip, its NOT a STI, its a bunk *** base model 2.5 impreza. even a stock wrx would put buslengths on a cobalt ss.

that guy should be hunted down by all the STi in his area and decimated repeatedly.

Re: Cobalt SS vs STI

im i the only one here that has driven both a wrx and a cobalt ss and a srt-4? i would be shocked if the cobalt didnt give the wrx a nice run for its money, and the cobalt deff pulled alot harder down low and most of the way through the RPMs then the srt-4 and i think they throw down the same times. just in very diffrent ways, the srt-4 really pulls once it spools

you say youve driven a srt4, then you should know. its like insta-spool. i think the srt4's turbo(15/16g whatever, nobody really knows a definate answer) and the stock t25 that came with my car had the same feel to them. when i test drove the srt4 when they first came out i wasnt impressed by it, it didnt feel turbocharged like the evo or the gsx my freind had did, it didnt even feel fast. it didnt have that top end pull like most turbocharged cars have, though it had power throughout the whole band(the 2.4 helps).

i havent driven the cobalt ss but ive driven a saturn ion redline which is the same thing. i think my buddy's rsx-s is faster, which is sad. though possibly with a few minor bolt ons(intake, sc pulley, exhaust, etc) it could liven it up but stock its still slow.

Re: Cobalt SS vs STI

it sounded like hes saying theres lots of lag on a srt4, which there isnt. "once it spools". you want a "once it spools" statement try a 60trim on for size, it might see 20psi by 4500.

Re: Cobalt SS vs STI

no but in compairison it doesnt have the pull the cobalt off the line, but then again i dont drive boosted cars very often so i could easily miss read slowness for turbo lag. but i know that the cobalt would pull the srt-4 from a stop.

All I know is both cars are slow, and there was no way he was doing 85 as the needle would need to be at around 2:00 and it barely made it to the 12:00 position. And it also took him forever to get to whatever speed he was going to and has no idea about cars and is a total putz.
