proof gas prices are out of control

across the street from each other.... and believe it or not, both of them were completely full of customers. This was before gas ballooned to the $2.40 a gallon it is now.

The sad thing is: the $1.99/gallon gas was the $2.19/gallon gas at the other station... yeah, crazy.

so glad i have a GT now, and dont need to use premium all the time.

though even filling up with 87 cost me 35 bucks, its 2.79 for 87. 2.99 for 91.

$3.10 for premium and $2.89 for regular if you get it at a quality place where i live.
crazy thing is that $2.40 sounds cheap for me.(compared to the prices here) chevron refinery is right up the road but i guess they think california people can afford to pay this:ar15: :pissed: :thumbsdow

Guys who want to mod their engines might want to rethink this because in 4 years it will be 4.00 to 5.00 a gallon and everything you by like food, cloths, and general plastic stuff is going to double Including electricity. We are headed to some tough times here soon and there is little we will be able to do about it.

man at this rate I'm gonna be stuck at home forever

That's why I'm modding the regal with fuel economy in mind (everything will help EXCEPT the smaller pulley.. but at the same time that only hurts if I get into boost.. which it would anyway, even stock) I get 26-28 MPG on my daily commute in that beast lol..

The mustang will be my secondary car for when I can afford the premium gas

BUT either way... The Govt really needs to start pinning down these b*tche* on the gas prices.. its gonna get outta hand.. once it hits $3/gallon in NJ for premium I will be royally effed estimated 26000 miles/year for me.. = ~1000 gallons = $1000 more per year in gas for each dollar it goes up I only make $34k before taxes.. have a $2600 insurance bill, have to pay food, utilities, etc... I'm stuffed lol

People think e85 is good, but in all honesty you will get such bad gas mileage that you'd be better of sticking with 87 because you will end up spending more. For example a guy with a 3.0 in his truck on my ranger forum got some and only got 150 miles out of the tank compared to when he had 87 he got nearly 300.

this is total bullcrap, i work at a farm and we have our own gas tanks for the tractors and quads and such, my boss talked to the gas company guy about the prices because his was never changing, he said the cost of oil hasnt changed in months, so he has no idea why the retail places are rasing it so much

There is a reason for that Industry under fixed price contracts by fuel from vendor a year or more at a time and the vendor will even store it for them and deliver it when needed. In the case of Wal Mart their contract runs out, the old contract was at 1.49 Gal but they came out last week and said the prices were going to double and the retail shoppers will see it in the products they will by. Nearly all contracts on yearly basis and sep is the business end of the year. Guys it is going to get ugly.

So in fact the tight supply of oil is do to the lack of world refinerys not more oil. In 1970 we refined 80% of our oil today it is less than 20%.

SO thank you Mr Clinton!!!!!

Oh an ANWR isnt the answer, before we even voted on ANWR we should have voted on loosening the restrictions on refineries and creating more. Now we rely on other countries to refine our oil which is why gas prices suck today.

Not because Bush is in power

the price of oil has been consistant for the last 6 months at least, so why are they hiking gas prices again?

Re: proof gas prices are out of control

You are crazy gas prices bursted 60 a barrel less than 1 month ago and has hit as much as 67 a barrel. Last year we were in the mid fifties and 2 years ago we were in the mid 40's a barrel. I sure as hell want to know where you get your information because all your statements are really very inaccurate and outright wrong.

Oh as far as the rise of oil Clinton was in office when oil eclipsed 40 a barrel when it had been constant at low to mid 30's a barrel. but again as clinton closed the refinery's gas started creeping up and when china's economy exploded in 1998 and reached mega growth by 2000 after Hong Cong was reunified the worlds oil refining capacity has been struggling with demand

Economics lesson for the day

Re: proof gas prices are out of control

I will leave you with this as a guide to supply of oil

Currently the world Output of oil is just about at 100%
Refinement is at nearly 100%
Oil companies are not building new refineries because of high profit taking
Exxon made a 9,000,000,000 profit last quarter and is spending 0 on reinvestment
China has nearly 2,000,000,000 people who are being allowed by the communist government to by cars and build homes. The rapid boom in china has created a problem where current oil production is tight.

If a oil refinery goes off line it is felt everywhere. There is no room to wiggle. If right now the oil companies built new refinerys it would be nearly 4 years before they went on line.

We and in a trap right now. The only way to reduce oil cost is to conserve. If demand goes down the price of oil drops. It does not matter who is president nobody is going to get much out of the oil companies. The combination of shutting down refinery's here and the continued wasting of electricity and oil with huge SUV's with only a driver in them needs to stop. We are seeing a end of a era. within 2 years all these new cars with V8's will dissapear as quickly as they did in the 70's. When gas hits $5 a gallon only the wealthy will be driving hemi powered cars

So the computer age appeared during the clinton administration.

Doesn't mean Clinton had anything to do with the dotcom boom does it?

Cause he sure as hell didn't.

I don't know that I'd argue that.... when Gore was running, internet was up and booming... sure not the millions of companies as today, but it takes awhile for the effects of profit to find their way to business... not trying to be a smart *** or anything, but this is the logic you used against me to blame Clinton for stuff. I'm also not trying to start anything. Just my $0.02... if you wanna throw them away, go for it
