Its the Bearing Point Pathfinder Project. Bearing Point has a contract with the Airforce to develop an Advanced Planning System. They will be replacing 550 legacy systems with Commercial off the shelf software for Supply chain logistics early in 2005 of which APS is a component.

Is that the worlds fastest thing in the desert area at that spot that makes slushies and has a neat little window for possibly doves to fly into and out of?

Re: Identify this: I dare you

and after seeing the site, I re-guess this:

Threat Generation/Targeting system

yeah, the top few people at OTS can goto the Naval air base in Pennsacola, FL and learn to navigate the B1 or F15. Haven't decided if I wanna fly that or cargo (easy transition into commercial flying when I get out)

Re: Identify this: I dare you

The TRTG is an AN/APQ-153/159 radar set mounted in a S-250 shelter. It contains an optical subsystem that can be slaved to the radar antenna and an instrumentation subsystem that is capable of recording data for debriefing later. The radar is a modified J-Band set which provides tactical aircrews with a training radar system capable of generating threat radar characteristics similar to those expected to be encountered on the battlefield. This system has been transitioned to Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM)

it's a land based mobile radar that tracks equipped planes and projects simulated threat radar. basically a fancy way pilots get flight hours without anyone else in the air.

YESSIR!

It's an AN/VPQ-1 TRTG..

It's what I worked on during my 6 yr tenure in the USAF.

Re: Identify this: I dare you

Specifically it's a threat generator.

Simulating the Russian ZSU-23

Which is a quad 23-mm AAA system.

During training missions I shot down everything that came against me with the exception of the GR-1 Tornado..

Hopefully you never encounter one of these Brandon. If some lazy AF punk can shoot down an EC-130, I wouldn't want to imagine what a motivated person could do with the real thing.

Re: Identify this: I dare you

lol. I'm sure I'll have decent training on how to fly planes. I doubt I'll actually ever be in a combat situation. (unless I choose one of the B planes )
