Well ****!

I'm driving to work, no big deal.. and I spot this Civic EX behind me. It's lowered.. and I'm like eh.. whatever. We both make a turn on this long stretch of road and I'm just keeping the speed limit. This guy comes up from behind me and tries going around the side of me. So I gun it and hit 65, I'm ahead and he lets off at around 55-60. I slow down a bit as we are coming to a light and it's changing yellow.

I go through it going 40 (the speed limit), and suddenly I hear a VWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOSH and the Civic EX flies by across the light. I was like "Nooooooooooo ****ing ****! It's turbo charged!"

So we get next to each other at another stop (cars in front of us though)

Me: "Hey nice car, you turbo charge it?"
Asian guy: "Oh hey thanks, yeah it's turbo charged. I assembled my own home-made turbo kit."
Me: "Wow no ****? How much horse power does it have?"
Asian guy: "Well, I haven't dyno'd it.. but I think 200 hp"
Me: "That thing is pretty damn fast."

It goes green and we both roll and he's showing me how his car goes. All of first gear is like nothing. When he gets into second gear though the turbo kicks in and he flies like a bat outta hell. Stock exhaust on his car too, it's a big sleeper except it's lowered. But that can't tell you much.

Yup..those are the ones to look out for. Unlike a guy I met last weekend with a civic hatch whose tag was "v6what"...he was an *** and talking about how slow my car was. If I wasn't worried about gas mileage and cops I woulda gone and run him. Might do it this weekend.

It was one of those "one-time" deals I guess. Never seen him on the street before, just some random person. Guy looked like he was in his mid to late 20's I think. He didn't like to brag about his car too. He was more like, "Yeah.. this is it, thanks." Like he's alright with his car, but you feel like he wish he had something else.

Ha...with gas being 3.19 for regular here and cops watching our hangout spot and following us when we leave, I worry about a few of these things now lol.

it all depends on if hes running some sort of swapped motor and how much boost hes running and how well its tuned.

even on a stock b18(LS motor, non vtec) with a turbo running 7psi and no tuning apparatus, mid 14's are attainable. and prolly around 220-250hp. thats with just the turbo, now add vtec(now a turbo ls/vtec), better cams, intake, exhaust, tuning, and 300hp easily. not to mention mid to low 13's with major traction problems. and thats still at very low boost levels on a stock block. now imagine we build that block for boost(closed deck, low compression, forged internals cryo treated) and threw 20psi at it..........

i dont like hondas, but when done right, they can be holy ******** fast.

btw i bet that guy visits www.homemadeturbo.com. lotsa honda guys with actual brains that can peice together a reliable turbo kit for under 1000, much like he did.

i dont know where youve been, ive seen stock B18's on 10psi down in the mid 13's with only the turbo setup, 3" exhaust, and a tuning setup

i havent. i personally raced a b18 teg ls with the greddy turbo kit @ 7psi with a few other boltons, and he ran a 15.0 to my 15.3(i just had intake, bov and exhaust at the time) when i first got my gst. albiet his teg is a little heavier than a civic, but i expected him to rape me whole. come to think of it, he only outlaunched me(since it was my first track day with the dsm) and when i finally got momentum, the gap between us didnt change. if i launched right, it wouldve been a badass race. that was a 2.6 60ft on my part to his 2.2.

i like how everyone knows a 13 second turbo honda(especially people in cali), but in all seriousness, ive yet to see one that WASNT fully race prepped(gutted hatch, cage, built everything) that got faster than 13's. and the one i did see, ran 12.5, it was a crx with a built b16, running slicks, race prepped to the max.

hell, my buddy had a 91 CRX

it wasnt race prepped, but it wasnt 100% street, he pulled all the sound deadening out, scraped the tar off the floor boards (the glue/sound ****), pulled out the bumper reinforcements, then had a NASTY B16a

the had a fully worked head, cams, valves, a mugen computer that allowed him to rev to 11K, tube header, 3" exhaust, custom intake manifold, the works, this car was nasty, put down i think 190ish at the wheels, but it was N/A

ran a best of a 12.7 on street tires...
