98 GT coupe (according to him, horizontal taillights though :dunno 4.6:
mods: exhaust, and i dont know what else

04 V6 coupe:
x-cal2 (street setting), udp, and cai

a little story before the run:
i was merging onto the interstate and i had o/d locked out. and i get even with him and he guns it at about 75 and so do i. well i am pulling ahead of him, so we cruise about 5 miles down the interstate. and mind you the whole time we are trying to find a break in traffic to run. so while i am behind him, he keeps flooring it when the road opens a little and so do i, and i stayed on his ***. my 3rd kept shifting out and i was stickin to his rear bumper in o/d while gettin up to 90ish and he still had it floored.........then i get on side of him and he asks me if i have a 4.6. i tell him no its just a v6 and he kept saying that i was lying. so a couple miles later we line up and run from 65-~100

here's the vid

horizontal taillights don't belong on a 98. nobody even wants those.

wants those......as in wants 98's, or nobody wants horizontal tails?

i actually like the horizontals better than the verticals. not that id make it a huge issue, but say the car was rear ended and needed new tails, id get horizontals if i had a 96-98.

Vertical tails = the bomb b/c sequentials just wouldn't look right otherwise lol.

And nice one kyle...I need to get a video of dude here in town with a 98 with the full saleen body kit and everything. The car is completely stock and he thinks he's hot ****. I've already walked him once.

As in nobody wants horizontal tails. They just don't look as good as vertical ones.

Then you add in the sequential taillights...

the 94-98s in automatic are close to mid 15 sec cars stock some even worse.... so they are not to bad to beat, I beat one by like 4 cars the other day.

and this is EXACTLY what i am talking about............i can beat mid/high 15 second cars by a generous amount, yet i can only manage 15.9's at the track

Re: Whooped up on a GT *****VIDEO*****

That is the paradox that is known as "Street Racing" Where how fast a car can go is not nearly as important as reaction time and what not. You see these ricers driving around street racing... but they wont dare go to teh track because they know the grim reality that awaits them lol.

Street racing is just for fun, not to determine who is faster.

true, but when two cars go at WOT at the same time, the car that has better power to weight will win, is this not correct? i realize gears also play a factor, but it runs mid 15s on stock gears in an auto

Re: Whooped up on a GT *****VIDEO*****

I remember being very diappointed in Mustangs when the 4.6 came out in them.

A whopping 215hp and 260 ft/lbs:yank:

It was down from 225hp & 300ft/lbs: some improved engine.

Your engine was 192/240 stock(unsure of v6 figures) and probably weighs quite a bit less.

I am actually not a bit surprised that you beat him. 94-98s are probably my least favorite years, even less so than the Mustang II's

well, stock numbers are 193/225 for the 6's at the crank.......however mine isnt stock, before i added a programmer, i put down at the wheels 176/216 SAE (183/224 uncorrected) in 70* weather with 15% humidity.......in 105* weather with twice as much humidity, i put down 173/200.....i am gonna add dual exhaust before i dyno it again and will dyno it in nov/dec, or whenever i put in the dual exhaust system

Re: Whooped up on a GT *****VIDEO*****

street races are not a way to determine who is faster. If you wish to prove me wrong then you can try but you will be wasting your time. Its fun no doubt, but a real track time is the only way to go about it. Either way good run, dont expect to run mid 15s as you sit cuz i dont see that happening, you can run 15 something though.

yeah no **** huh?

i've already stuck with an 2 99+ GT autos......one gave me a car jump and slowly reeled me in from 65-~100, at this speed, he was about 5ft off my back bumper when we let off (he had at least an exhaust, i dont know if anything else) and the other i finished with my front tire at his back tire from 75-~100, he was stock, and when we let off, no one was pulling........both GTs were coupes too.

spector, i am curious............if two automatic stangs with the same tranny and gears go WOT from the same speed, and one pulls on the other, how does that not determine who is faster? its a law of physics that says the car with the better power to weight (seeing as that me and an auto GT have the same tranny with same gears, thats not an issue) is goin to accelerate faster...you cant bring aerodynamics into this either b/c its the same exact car. so really, the only thing you can look at is power to weight.......and when i ran the stock GT, i had a stereo, passenger, and a full tank. when i ran the lightly modded GT he had a passenger and i had my stereo and a half tank of gas......but i am not making excuses, they were damn good races, however i did lose to both of them.

so how spector? how does two cars of the exact same make and model goin at WOT from a 65 roll not determine who is faster?????????

i personally am not a fan of roll races, but even if it were from a dig, the same laws/rules would apply, i just didnt catch a light with these GTs so i am goin by what happened

please explain this to me, what am i missing

Re: Whooped up on a GT *****VIDEO*****

if they both start at the same time then the faster car would win. You are definatly correct there if the cars are identical in all aspects minus power/weight. The key to that statement is the same time. That is most definatly nearly impossible, pretty much highly improbable that you started at the exact same time, sure it was close.... but how much does close count?

I do know that every tenth of a second is double that at the end of a quarter mile/eight mile track. Since you were not stoped at the time that also changes, not sure to what effect. The bottom line I am getting at, not saying who is faster but that a street race (a race that is not timmed or has no constraints there of) can not be used to determine who is faster, you can get a good guestimate but its not 100% accurate by any amount, heck a track is not even 100% accurate.

The gears in a pre 99 gt are 2.73 almost ALWAYS also ... that cna have a bearing on the race as well. Im not saying you didnt win, those turds are nearly 16 second cars stock in an auto so no doubt you did do exactly what you said you did with out issue, its just track numbers determine which car gets from A to B faster, not which car is in front of whom at a given line.

Re: Whooped up on a GT *****VIDEO*****

whats to say then that he started before me and thats why we finished with my front tire at his back tire?

to me, if a win/loss on the street comes down to someone starting .1 sooner than the other, then thats a damn good race to begin with, especially from a dig. but these were from a roll.

if one car is clearly faster than the other, then it would pull.....for example, if i raced rob's cobra and he gave me a full second head start, i am pretty sure within a few seconds he would pull me back in and pass me..........b/c he is clearly faster. if a 99+ auto GT starts even .1 after me (which no one truly knows who started first) then if he had a noticeably different power/weight, then he would have pulled away better.....from 75-100 he couldnt even pull in front, and when we shut down no one was pulling....if i recall correctly, i think he did his pulling right when we started, probably b/c he jumped first, b/c i was just pacing him to see if he would bite, and he went, and as soon as i knew he was goin, i went, so it was pretty much at the same time.....if anyone left sooner, i believe it was him, but cant say thats a fact.

Re: Whooped up on a GT *****VIDEO*****

im sorry i dont mean to be so analytical, thats just what ive been trained for for 5 years lol. There are so many variables that most dont even take into account... to me thats why street racing is no where near a good idea of what a car is capable of and why the track is the only way to truly go about it. lol sorry im just odd like that.
