vehicle decision...sweeet

so here's what i'm doing in the next two years.

buying an EVO or FD...something imported and turbo basically, and not something everyone and their brother has.

and converting the 6er to strictly track duty. stripping the interior, re-enforcing everything, full cage, etc. home-turbo kit and so forth.

and convincing my folks to get a truck to tow it to events. heh.

anyone else have plans for their v6? since undoubtedly they don't resell for much. one reason i chose this route.

Re: vehicle decision...sweeet

I would kinda like to buy a V6 really cheap sometime and build up my own turbo kit for it. That would be kinda fun

haha i was just gonna say that.

and umm, why the sixer for track duty? make the sixer a dd like its supposed to be and get something else for track only stuff. i dont know, it just seems like too much work and money to make the sixer into a track car, and it still wont perform as good as most other track cars with less invested. i think a 5.0 miata would make a nice drifter, 240/sr20, s2k, cheap fox 5.0, etc.

Agreed, and I would definitley like to see a 5.0 miata. That just sounds wierd.

Re: vehicle decision...sweeet

its been done quite a few times. way too much torque to get traction if youre doing it for drag, but lack of traction in the rear is precisely what drifting is about.

Re: vehicle decision...sweeet

how is FD and EVO contradicting?

that and i don't want to immediately tear up what i get doing track stuff. drag is ok because straightline wont hurt it so bad as anything else.

and i can always turn the boost down for street to keep my gas mileage.

ideally if i got a cobra i'd want it to have a 9" solid axle or a rebuilt IRS. cuz by the time i'm ready to shop its gonna need new bushings out the ***.

boost isnt like that. turning down the boost will only effect what boost level youre at at WOT. you can be at 30psi or 10psi, and its not going to effect mileage or power during city driving. hell with my turbo, the boost never reached over 0 on the gauge, and i usually was between -10 and -5 daily driving.

and its a contradictory statement cause you said those cars arent everyday cars, when in fact, i usually see a evo once a day. a rx7 is a little rarer though, mostly cause the good ones are all taken by performance shops or on jackstands while their apex seals are getting replaced.

yup, same with the spyder. thus i got rid of it for a more manlier car.*deepens voice*. but its only a fruity car till it kicks your ***, then its like "wtf i just got beat by a **** car, dam, i suck at life"

Even if you bought a brand new one it would need bushings out the ***...the complete bushing kit is only 600 from Maximum Motorsports, IRS brace is 160, IRS bracket 50, and you are done.

Swapping it to a solid is not that major of a deal either if you decided to go that route. For track use (drifting), I would think you might want solid but who knows. I agree with everyone else though. Make the 6 a DD and get something else for track duty. Buy a rolling chassi or a New orleans flood special, gut it, make it solid, put a nice engine in it, and be done.

Re: vehicle decision...sweeet

for the price of an evo you can have an 04 cobra, sure it may not handle as good at the track but it makes up for it.
