the next shelby = v6

A new Shelby Mustang will go on sale in 2006 - and itís a V6! Looking for the same combination of balance, power and agility as the legendary GT350, Shelby Automobiles decided to use a supercharged V6 as the powerplant for its newest Mustang, the CS 6, rather than a V8. The car is on display at the Vortech/Paxton booth at SEMA.

The centerpiece of the engine bay is a NOVI-1200 Paxton intercooled supercharger, which boosts the output of the V6 to more than 350 hp. Other performance enhancements include a suspension upgrade, Baer brakes and Borla dual exhaust.

Interior and exterior mods include:

* Custom hood
* Custom grilles
* New front and rear fascia
* Custom 20Ē American Racing wheels
* Shelby Automobiles badging

well i think the paxton makes up for the fact its a v6. wonder what its rated at. might be worth a look. did v6 and v8 get a different rear-end gearing/axle for the 05+?

hehe, get the shelby version and declare it as a v6 shweet.

for the $35K (minimum) that you would spend on that car, you could pick up a GT and add a supercharger to get 450 rwhp....

Re: the next shelby = v6

Purchased V6 Mustang for 4,000 dollars
Purchased performance parts in my sig for ~2,200

Results:

Looking at 240rwhp and close to 300rwtq for just over 6,000 dollars in a Body Style I like while paying 95 dollars a month to insure it.

Add a 2,000 dollar supercharger bring total to 8,200ish dollars and then I am looking at a 350rwhp 400rwtq V6 Mustang while paying 95 dollars a month to insure it

This is why I bought a V6 Mustang

Re: the next shelby = v6

From what I am reading, it is going to be $14,995 on top of the price of the V6, plus labor. It is a bolt on kit type of deal like Saleen and Steeda coming directly from Shelby Automotive instead of from Ford. It is another way for Carol to try and make more money off his name before he goes. There will also be a kit for a GT that will be the same type of deal.

Needless to say, it is a very disappointing fact that he teamed up with West Coast Customs to create this car. It is also a disappointing fact that there is more flash on that car than there really needs to be. Needless to say, there are many people out there with more money than brains. They will buy this car and then be mad when they get schooled by older cobras...The should just save their money and buy a V6, put their own SC on it, and be happy.

Overally....I think I threw up in my mouth a little looking at the car.

and if you have an accident with undeclared modifications, your insurance won't cover them. they'll pay you blue book and that's it

cuz not everyone is born rich or throws their money away. I'm with Brent. Anyone who wants to be in debt can buy a V8 but it takes smart planning and effort to make a 6 faster then a GT. having a V8 is the easy way but also comes with its insurance price as well.
The only reason i would upgrade to an 8 is because i love the sound of the exhaust, but if i can get the same and more hp with a 6 and a few mods then i'm happy with that too.
and comparing it to a honda is just wrong and retarded.

modding a v6 costs money just like modding a v8, so i guess you gotta be rich and throw money around to mod either. It also takes planning to make a v8 fast, you just can't throw random parts on a v8 and it will be like "I am the all knowing 8 cylinder, please hold while I tune myself and make 500rwhp". You can get older v8s for pretty cheap, just because its a v8 doesn't mean it will cost an arm and a leg. My 90 coupe had 10k miles on the rebuilt engine and i traded a car i payed $1800 for for it. Insurance isn't bad either, I only have liability and un/underinsuranced drivers insurance, but I still don't think it would be insane. I just try not to do stupid things on the road and I am confident I can fix my car for cheap if I ever do have a wreck thats my fault. It pays not to be an idiot behind the wheel: I get multiple car discount, safe driver discount, drivers ed discount, good student discount.

If you have a accident in a Cobra that has a supercharger on it or anyother modification they won't cover it either.

If I bought a GT it would not be left stock so that arguement doesn't hold water with me.

But if I buy that GT like everyone and their mom thinks I should and not get the V6, I mod the GT and pay higher insurance on it at the same time.

In the end:

Brent mods V6
Brent gets the power he wants out of V6
Brent pays less per month on his V6 than the majority of the big bad V8 boys
Brent is happy

correct, weather it be a GT, v6, cobra, saleen, lambo, sti, ferrari, bmw, benz or whatever, if its modded..you crash it all your gonna get is KBB value, so its not just the v6 , so definitely not a logical argument

point is that insurance is high for me to have a V8. I don't have any tickets or anything. It would have been around $150 or more a month. The 50 bucks i save pays for gas and mods. Plus with a 6 you can go at your own pace and pay for mods when you get the money. I know there are V8's pretty cheap out there but they're behind on technology and some even have less hp then my 6. i don't want a 15 year old gt to start out with.
my 6 is reliable and within the next year it'll be faster then the big boys.

you can go at your own pace and pay for mods when you get the money with any car with any engine, its the only way to do it unless you want to be swimming in credit card bills. Why are v8s behind on techonology? Sure, most motors aren't OHV anymore, but its still a working design. I wouldn't want a 15 yr old gt either, LX is where its at. My 5.0 is reliable as hell and has less miles than alot of early '05 cars. I am not saying I am right by having a v8 and you are wrong by having a v6, I am saying everyone likes their own thing so we all need to be open minded and live with the fact that we all have individual tastes.

it was the only comparison i could think of at the time. and in my honest opinion....i see no real point in a 6 stang.

you dont gotta be rich or throw your money away to get a vehicle with a V-8 in it. Smart planning and some saving and you can do it. Maybe im just used to the bronco world. pretty much all of them came with a 302 or a 351. i have the 351. great motor and it has lots of power.

See, the thing is, the reason most of us have v6's is for the gas, price, and insurance. It's normally cheaper on all three. If ya don't understand, that's fine, but I'm not gonna take bashing of the car this site was started about, sorry. Nothing against you, but it's just not cool to be doing that.

Re: the next shelby = v6

I picked up my car cuz it was eitehr my car or stay with my 97 v6, which was picked up after a POS eclipse i had...

run mid 15s for 15k? (plus 1500 rebate I recieve).... show me a car that did that in 2001 BRAND NEW, I wanted RWD etc etc... they are nice cars, most assume everyone of them are 150hp 17 sec cars.... oh well I dont plan to buy another one but if someone has one and enjoys it I wont knock them for it.

they have a ton of potential unless 10 second cars are not fast enough for you.

Re: the next shelby = v6

[QUOTE=SrATEX]it was the only comparison i could think of at the time. and in my honest opinion....i see no real point in a 6 stang.

you're retarded for saying something like that on a forum where many people own a V6.:fu3:
and comparing it to a honda would be like comparing your bronco to some Suzuki 4x4 or a Tracker.

....and i see no real point in a big *** 8 when people are making 400rwhp plus on their 6.
we don't need your narrow minded comments on this board.

Re: the next shelby = v6

except for the SI civics run high 16s - low 17s depending on the model and transmission, i dont see how you can compare a v6 mustang to that, 99-04 mustang v6 = 5spd = mid 15s, automatic, high 15s/low 16s
