Ghey.

Why pay out the *** for something you can't see?

Especially if it won't help performance wise.

They'd look good for about a week. Then they'd be dirty, never to be clean again.

Re: clear wheels?

it's different but i think that would look good on certain cars. maybe show off their slotted rotors and matching calipers. i bet in the future every honda is going to take this idea and do it to their cars and then kill the look.

Re: clear wheels?

LOL!!! That thread??

I hate to burst your bubbles, but that's a photoshop of the wheel moving placed on a still. Look above the sunlight glimmer and you can see spoke reflection.

It started out on the Z forum that someone posted to own the Z guys. It worked too

Re: clear wheels?

it really depends on what car it is on. i think it looks really good on that car, but i dont think it would look good on my mustang. its a pretty neat chop though.

Re: clear wheels?

the 350Z pics were chopped, but the technology itself is real, and really pretty cool. build a mustang out of that stuff and it'd weight about 1500 pounds lol

That is not true aluminum oxynitride is stronger than any glass resist glazing, etching or scratching. it is a Aluminum Ceramic material. It is bullet proof and scratch proof. It does not stain or pit. They are testing it now on tanks and helicopters in the desert will eventually replace glass and Lexan in many products

Re: clear wheels?

yeah, nitrides of many metals form very very solid compounds. It's just a matter of finding the right one with the right properties you want. Corey seems to know the exact name, so now we have a name for it . Go Corey.

It would be very interesting to see them making almost complete vehicles out of the stuff..transparent helicopters...all you see is an engine and 16 guys just floating along in the air...

Re: clear wheels?

Even though I do like the wheels, novel idea, think of the scientific possibilities.

Clear submersibles, etc. Just wow.

I believe someone put it best, "Mr. Scott would be proud"

Re: clear wheels?

What you will see out of this technology is active camouflage. Now that you have a clear material that is as strong as steel you will be able to make the outside surface camo change with a push of a button like a TV. The tank would just blend into the scenery. Projection Camo or Holographic camo. Now you can have a stealth Tank, boat, truck, Humvee.
