Had a run in with a '02 GT

Well, today on the interstate. I saw a silver stang in my rear view mirror. I hit the slow lane and wait for it to catch up to see what it is. Finally he pulls along side of me and it's a 02 silver GT w/Bullit wheels. I jump in behind him and get on his booty. We finally get a break in traffic and I see him down shift (little puff of smoke) and I do the same. We left from about 75. I hit third, and pretty much stopped his pull. From 75-about 125 (I think I don't know over 120) he had about 3/4 of a car on me. We did this about 4 times and the most he ever got on me would be 1 car length. So I finally pull up along side of him and he rolls down the window. My brother (passenger) starts pointing at my V6 escape badge. The say is like what, and my bro yells, "It's a V6" The guy says and I quote " NO IT ISN'T." I told him to hit the next exit and we did. We pulled in at a gas station and he's like "IT IS A V6!" So we talked, told him what I had done. He had exhaust, CAI, and a Steeda Tria Ax. He said he's got the 3.73s sitting at his house waiting to go in, and after seeing my 6 with them he can't wait to put them in his. It was a 5 speed. I was excited that I practically hung with a GT on top end. Something I thought I had lost with the 3.73s. Now I just need to catch a auto from a dig. And see how I fair then. By the way, I just installed my UDP and last night I ran 04stang (I think that's him Kyle) We had ran before the UDP and we have vids up. I'm the Red stang that beat Kyle in the "vid you've all been waiting for" thread. He would pretty much stay at my rear bumper, well last night from a 65 roll. I'd pull about 1 car in front. So the UDP deff. helped.

Re: Had a run it with a '02 GT

nice...your gears definately helped your top end though. With the stockers you wouldn't have been albe to do more than like 113 (well, that is the max with exhaust and intake ) Can your engine push through to the redline in 5th?

Re: Had a run it with a '02 GT

Well, I've never pushed my car through 5th. My synchros is 5th are messed up so it's hard to shift into at high speeds. I usually run out 4th and that's the end of the race. But I could prolly run out fourth, slowly work it into 5th and slowly pull to the redline. And the 3rd Video, that was joke. I felt bad for you. HAHAHA We gonna line em up from a stop.

Re: Had a run it with a '02 GT

you should NEVER race into 5th gear EVER 5th is to weak, go to the end of 4th there is no need to push 5th gear lol. You can shift into it and speed up of course... just dont speed shift 5th at 6k rpms and expect it not to break lol

Re: Had a run it with a '02 GT

Yeah I use every other gear to get up to speed. And then I just use 5th to cruise at the speed of my choice. But I don't try to accelerate. It just doesn't happen fast enough for me. DOWNSHIFT!!!

well say if you drop air pressure and with the udp you might hit 14.8 or so, so with me being 2 cars behind you, that would put me at 15....................that'd be ok by me

really, id run into 5th more often, but sadly going from 4th to 5th is like hitting a brick wall. hopefully some 3.90's out back will change that, give me a more useable 5th gear in a freeway race, topping out 4th sometimes is just not enough of a lead to let off quite yet.

racing from a roll is gay...my car had 3spd and could scare the 99+ gt's still lost to them though but all the other ones were cake to walk from lol.

racing from a roll proves nothing, why do people do it? they cant drive or launch or what?

maybe cause theyre making enough power to where 1st, 2nd and 3rd are totally useless?

(20psiX3400rpm+FWD)1st, 2nd, 3rd= 0 traction. when i finally had the gst dialed in, i mean i was running 46lbs/min, zero knock, 15+ of timing(any more and i got knock), when 20psi came on at 3400rpm in 3rd gear doing tuning pulls, the tires just erupted in plumes of smoke. i had to ride them out and wasnt till around 4500-5k where they started to grab, then pulled liked a raped monkey with its *** on fire till 7k. which is mostly the reason i sold it and will get a awd later on, so i can have that same amount of power, and rape *****es off the line like nobody's business.

Re: Had a run it with a '02 GT

get a better suspension/tires and u will hook up everytime, hell the open body dragsters hook up and they make a hell of alot more power then ur dsm...and the dsm expert thing in ur sig is annoying me, u only win by default.

no, you wont. fwd just plain sucks when youre making that much power and trying to hook up, especially from a stop. even launching at 10psi got my tires roasting, and i had tein-h tech springs with tokico illuminas, and urethane motor mounts(cure for wheelhop on fwd), tires were kuhmo ecsta 112's if i remember.

as for dragsters, theres a reason theyre engine is in the rear, right above the tires, which by the way are almost 2.5 feet wide.

and by default, you assume im in competition? if there was another dsmer on her, they could be an expert also, but for now im still one and only expert.

Re: Had a run it with a '02 GT

nobodys cares if your a "expert" theres no input needed on dsms here. the weight of an engine does not outweigh the power they are making. what about prostock? engines still in the front and they still hook and go. when my 88 was on the road I would light up 1st and 2nd launching at 1500rpms...with a basically stock motor if there was a better tires, suspension, etc it would not happen, and thats with only around 300ft lbs of torque. Hell even the little homos on that nopi show can hook up with a stupid *** fwd car.

i never said you were in competition, i could careless about dsm's and their tuning. I just said your sig is annoying because you have that in there and nobody here has a dsm to ask questions to you about (not like they would) and most importantly I dont think they really give a ****.

thats nice, there were actually people here with a dsm at one time, i believe her name was wendy, and after modding her v6, she picked up a 97 spyder gst for a dd, and then went on to mod that and i helped her out, shes now a regular at the dsmtuners forums. thats why i put that in my sig, to help people with possible questions on dsms, if they have them. and there have also been others here who have asked questions on them(if they should buy one, if this guy has these mods what are their chances, etc). just cause you havent seen them, doesnt mean they arent there. if nobody really gives a ****, why does it matter? sounds like someone has a hatred for teh dsm, probably a bad experience? slight stoplight ownage?

rwd is better for launching, which is why i now have one. go to the track and maybe someone might be there with a fwd dsm, watch them spin 1st and 2nd. there are things you can do to increase traction(LSD, Slicks, Motor Mounts, Suspension) but you will still spin. at launch, weight is transferred to the rear, leaving the front very light, add 400ft/lbs of torque going to one wheel up front at 3500rpm(or whenever the turbo of choice hits full boost) and theres not much you can do. just cause youre little 300ft/lbs rwd can launch, doesnt mean a 300ft/lbs fwd car can.

dont know why your making fun of 300 ft lbs...your highly praised 4.6 has only like 302 ft lbs stock lol. it was a statement that the car couldnt launch.

please read my last post over again nobody cares, here you go again with your dsm mentality. tip; you dont know everything.

umm, i could give a rats *** about my gt's power, thats not what i bought it for. do you ever see me saying "oh my gt is teh pwn it has 300hp"? i bought it for a nice looking dd with some bawls that can do 8hr road trips, so later on i can get a 1g awd and build the living **** out of it, and have a car that can launch like a raped ape.

and you talk about your fox's alot, just like i talk about my dsm's. thats why we can have freindly discussions like this.
