Re: MUSCLE

Well if you wish to only include vehicles made in America... define made in America. Does it have to be 100% made in America.. if thats the case then none are muscle cars. Perhaps you mean put together in America? well Mazdas are.

Re: MUSCLE

I'm gonna tell you the truth right now. They no longer make muscle cars. Back in the day with the old school mustangs, camaros, chevelle, chargers and so on they were all power they didn't need all these sensors computers and all that ****. There was no fiberglass or urethane or other similar materials. Every single part was made in america, and they were all horsepower. They didn't give a **** about gas mileage or comfortability just speed badass nasty ****in speed. That is american muscle.

The term "muscle car" was invented in the '60s. it described a big heavy car that in no way shape or form was a fast car of sports car unless a high powered engine was installed. therefor a malibu with a inline 6 cylinder is NOT a muscle car. But when the same car was given a 454 and badged a chevelle. it is now a muscle. Muscle car were big fat cars with poor handling. they could only go fast in a straight line because of it's oversized engine.

The term "pony car" was invented when the first mustang was built. what makes it different from a muscle car is a pony car is lighter, smaller, and built for handling. Some pony cars did come with big block engines like the '69 camaro ss, and the 429 cobra jet mustang, but the car is still a pony car, because it's built on a pony car platform.

The corvette is not a muscle car, because it's a small 2 seater sports car. The corvette actually falls under the roadster group.

I hope this clears it up.

Well said.I agree 110%

Re: MUSCLE

Ford had a 30% stock in Mazda but sold it off around the same time as when they got rid of Jaguar and Land Rover. I believe the stock was sold back to Mazda.

Ford brands are now only the Blue Oval, an assassinated president, the first planet from the sun and Volvo, although I don't know how much claim they have in them.

BTW how about a five-oh in a Miata?

Re: MUSCLE

Upton's statement is true, but don't blame the manufacturers for all of the sensors and computers; blame the damned government, specifically the EPA. All of the plastic, sensors , computers, etc. are a direct result of meeting air quality and gas mileage regulations. That being said, todays "muscle" cars, for lack of a better term, are more powerful, reliable and safe than the old school rides from the 60s & 70s. My old '68 340 'Cuda was a very fun car to drive, but I'd go with my 'Stang if given the choice today.
