Re: Dang...this is some *****!

Hm.. I would buy one of those, then I'd get a new skyline and swap engines... then turbo it

Re: Dang...this is some *****!

eh. i'd rather just take the 6 version and tt that. unless i got like a 200% salary increase then i'd just take the 8 maybe. but the passenger area in those cars is a little small imo.

or you could have more power right out of the box without a turbo, and awd to rip off the line, youd be past the 1/4 mark before the tt even started to gain. i think the torque of a v8 with the abilities of awd would make for an excellent combination.

Re: Dang...this is some *****!

yea but if i was doing tt then i'd for sure use some nice garrett ball bearing turbo's. maybe a T3/T4 57 trim that starts spooling at 2k or sooner and make full boost by 2.5k then have a T4 60-1 take over around 3k until redline.

of course i'd rather have a V8 but i'm not one for spending excessive amounts of cash out right to buy a car. I'd rather find something used but in good condition to build it up and slowly put money into it. i'm scurred of debt. i'd never put 45k down on a brand new car even if i could afford it.

no turbo, ball bearing or not, bigger than a 50 trim will ever make even 5psi before 3k. and especially a TT setup with twin 57 trims(or 57 trim and 60trim) is going to take to at least 5k(depending on motor displacement) to hit full boost. besides, the difference between 57 and 60 trim isnt much. and single turbo>twin nowadays, its more efficient to use one large turbo matched for your goals. most high hp freeway monster supras are single turbo.

Re: Dang...this is some *****!

so whats the difference between the Audi Quattro system and the ATTESA-ETS Skyline system?

because i figured they'd use an adaptation of that for the car.

or is it the silly UK-folk comparing it to something they can identify with?

i know there's no point in arguing because you're so stubborn and have to be right. Have you even looked at dyno graphs for mustangs with the turbos i'm talking about? the 350Z displacement isn't too far off from ours. 3.5L...so a 57mm would fit that just fine. and i never mentioned making a certain psi before a designated RPM either.

and yes a 60mm is considerably bigger compared to the 57mm and should spool up pretty quick even though the 350Z engine size is a bit smaller but it's DOHC 24 valve will help get the airflow in and out quicker. I've been researching all this stuff for a while and have seen some comparisons of a 57mm and 60mm and what they can do and when. several stock 3.8 V6 engines have a 57mm spooling at 2k or a 60mm around 3k making full boost waaaaaay before 5k.
not all but several of these guys are peaking well before 5k.

http://www.atpturbo.com/root/technicinfo/gtvst.htm
^some info on how the GT BB spool up much faster then the T series journal bearing turbos.

moral of the story....Your DSM knowledge doesn't apply to everything and Yes my daydream TT 350Z would work just fine. i was just posting my idea of what i would want. wasnt an invitation for you to puff yourself up.
