Computer question..

Hypothetically speaking if I got a cheap PCI graphics card and hooked up a 2nd monitor, do you think I could have dual monitors or do you think it wouldn't work right? i have a nvidia 5900xt right now and im not sure if it can support 2 monitors. i looked at it (just now because i just thought of this) and there seem to be 2 large ports. one blue and one white. is the white one for a monitor too? kind of n00b of me but i never really researched dual monitors before.

Re: Computer question..

white one is for a LCD monitor but you should have gotten a connector with it that will convert that into a reg monitor output

That card should be able to support two monitors

Re: Computer question..

i love my dual monitor set up.

yes you have your normal slot(blue) and the white is a DVI slot. most vid cards and iirc monitors come with a DVI adapter to run normal cables. if not i think i have an extra one lying around somewhere. I run dual 17" Rosewill LCDs I got from newegg.com for about 250 a piece

oh and you need to upgrade your card

Re: Computer question..

I can support two monitors and a tv lol. If you hard core game and demand good graphics you will probably only want to run one monitor, but you may not notice so give it a try.

I have ran dual monitors a bit, but my CRT is ugly and crappy compared to my 19in lcd so I go with that.

go into your cards options, mine has build in options for how to go about running dual monitors.

You need to go out and buy a 7800GT...or maybe even a GTX. Sr got it right. Blue connector is VGA. White connector is DVI. Get a DVI->VGA adapter and plug another monitor in.
