so i finally broke down (tire q)

and got 17" wheels.

i'm not sure what drag radials i want, but i want them to last at least 2/3 the time of a normal tires (if driven normal and not raced on every weekend) and obviously to hook.

i hear the bfg dr's go to **** after 3k miles but they have hooked 1.7 60's, which me likey.

and everyone else just says "get some nitto's". i've heard different stories abotu them and about them not hooking without some serious burninating, and that they don't last as long because of that.

suggestions?

BFGs. you have 11 wheels. get some BFGs for the strip, change them when you get to the track. or hell, put some slicks on.

then use another set for road driving.

just start donating more often, and have them suck you dry!!

hmm... average drag radials lasts 10k miles or so... i may just keep a set of slicks. that way it'll be more balls to the wallsy not to mention lighter wheels to do it on.

17" radials will hook fine on the streets. just get a set of 26x8.5x15 slicks for the track and swap them out when you get there. thats what i used to do

yup. im sure you have unidirectional tires already on your car. prolly ZR rated. those will hook just fine from a 5 punch, and will chirp a bit from a stop. not good at the track but the roads are usually a little more coarse, and can get traction easier.

screw it. just get some Micky Thompson ET Streets. those are street legal, and will hook 10x better than any drag radial

i dont go out in the rain in the 64 1/2 b/c with 310 tq (estimated by ford, lets not start this again.....), 80% of weight on front tires, and "burnout" tires i cant not spin out. I end up sliding the whole way to wherever I am going
