How hard are you on driving your stang?

Just curious of how hard other people drive their cars that are their dd's.
I like to go WOT about everyday whenever there's a lane open on the way to school.

I've seen posts where guys say it's ok to run X amount of boost as long as you don't drive it hard. What the hell does that mean?
I didn't buy the car to drive like a granny but i don't redline it everyday either. actually hardly ever.

anybody else drive on the street as if they were at the track? is it abusive to do so?

It all depends...days like today... I run her hard and put her up wet. Other days, I take it easy, and she rarely gets warmed up.

but i want to know what does within reason mean to all you guys?

compared to others i feel like i'm beating the **** out of my car. it sees 5k RPM's almost daily. not for a long period of time, just enough to pass a car or until the road comes to an end.
buy all my tune ups get done so i dont know if that justifies it enough or not.

Re: How hard are you on driving your stang?

I carry mine up to 6k regularly...like tonight, I got bored riding through town, after waiting on the car to warm up...and took off from a few red lights at WOT, chirped into 2nd.

Re: How hard are you on driving your stang?

Depends on my mood.

If it's a normal everyday thing, I don't usually push my car too much.

When I just got my car, I'd gun it all over the place.. but I'm over the V6.

I did get a kick today though when I came back to my car after going out with some friends. This car parked behind me and when I started my car, the alarm on the car behind me started to beep.

I chuckled and put it into drive. The car's alarm beeped again. I put it into neutral and reved it loud and it made the alarm go off lol

If I had a V8, starting the engine woulda scared the alarm on an instant.

Re: How hard are you on driving your stang?

Haha...yeh..alarms are fun to set off. Mine gets set off often, even after turning it down. When I turn the sensitivity up...you can touch my brake rotors and that'll set off the alarm. Wayyy too sensitive.

Re: How hard are you on driving your stang?

I have maybe 3-400 track passes on my cars in the past 2 years... most of them were on my 89.. so many stop lights and so light an amount of traffic around here that every stoplight is game-on.. plus I always have fun in the snow..

I just drive knowing that if it breaks its my fault..

I dont redline it much at all but I accelerate fast a good bit. I dont like ragging on cars so I dont abuse it to much.

Re: How hard are you on driving your stang?

I keep it under 3k until the temp needle gets off red. Then it is game on. Most of the time it is relaxed driving not going over 4500....but if there is a hot chick, hot car, or ricer near by...or I'm going under an over pass....6k here I come. lol

I generally drive normal, but when I get a long open stretch in front of me from a light, I will hit it pretty hard and get to 65 ASAP.

Re: How hard are you on driving your stang?

Like a lot of other people are saying, depends on the mood. Also depends on where I am. If I'm out in the country I tend to get in it a little bit more. If I'm in the city, I'm usually pretty easy on it. Not only because of cops, but I try not to look like too much of an idiot flying around from stop light to stop light in town. There's a time and a place for that.

Even when I'm out in the country though I don't push it to its limits. I could count the number of times I've seen the shift light on the street on one hand probably. Once again, I save that for the occasional trip to the track.

Re: How hard are you on driving your stang?

^ There was this 03 Cobra tearing up the strip last night (Strip being Sunset Blvd.) it was a dark gray color with a badass exhaust. Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn it.. it sounded sooo nice. The guy would gun it constantly down the street.

Kinda dumb in my opinion, cops are everywhere around that area
