do a web search for: Nazi Propaganda and Censorship. You should get some really good reasons there
I'm not trying to flak ya, I understand in some situations, like school debates, someone needs to play the devils advocate. but censorship just ain't right unless its some kinda national security thing or little kids. Music, books and art are freedoms of expression.....like free speech.

I personally practice censorship every single day.

I will not let my kids watch DragonTales, or Sagwa.. No Simpsons or rugrats.

Just because people have the right to say and produce anything they want, it is the parent's responsibility to gauge what the kids are exposed to. How many times do you hear the arguement about the degredation of society? How it's society's fault? then how the government is responsible for the direction society is headed?
So censorship can be seen as the government protecting us from ......

sorry, I can't do it.. Even thinking about the government stepping in to tell me what I can and can't see, read, listen to is leaving a bad taste in my mouth..

See, that's why Soviet Communism failed and Market democracies succeeded. Here it's not the government giving you what you see and hear, it's the media limiting what you see and hear. And we pay them money to do it

Then why make songs about killing people Are they exhibiting restraint bysinging about killing people, instead of actually doing it?

Are the censors censoring these violent tendancies to keep people from listening, and perhaps, becoming violent themselves?

The question is, who censors the censors?

bring up eminem. How all the gay rights fought him over his lyrics and ect.

and manson, how some kid killed himself while listening to manson..

all good points on why there should be censorship.

Yeah, people have killed themselves while listening to Kurt Cobain, Madonna, the beach boys, janet jackson, barney.... and just about every other group or person. Shall we censor all of them too?

I'm sorry, I hate censorship.

So Charles you dont believe in God but you do believe in Censorship of music : : : :

I without a doubt believe censorship of music belongs to the parents of children and not the music industry or government. I dont believe in Gay rights so I could give a rats *** about how they feel. Whether you are white or black, Christian or athiest, Jewish or hindu I could care less, we are all people and and as such have rights given to us in the constitution and the bill of rights. Gays dont need their own special rights!!!!!!!. As far as music goes, If a kid kills himself because of a song there were deep problems early on and there parents are responsible PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Just like Columbine the parents of the 2 deranged kids should be responsible. Hell one was making bombs in his parents garage and had a sawed off shotgun barrel on his dresser in his room. Like his parents did not notice and if them did not they are even more irresponsible as parents and should go to jail

The probem is Yuppie *** parents today are to busy for there kids and strangers raise their kids at daycare. The whole moral decay in our country started when both parents had to go to work for the american dream. That is why my wife stays at home and raises our kids in a loving and nurtured enviroment. Something that killed me when I first heard about it was when Hillary Clinton wrote the book " It takes a village" when raising kids, That is bull**** IT ONLY TAKES LOVING PARENTS THAT GIVE TIME TO THEIR KIDS. It is not the responsibility of Government, School, daycare, Churches, social workers, censorship, It only take responsible parents

Dragon tales? A show about fantasy dragons who work together to work through problems, with a brother and sister who go to visit them every episode.

Sagwa? A show about Ancient China, and the cats that write scrolls with their tales. Working through problems as a family to better eachother's lives.

Really, Ken, whats wrong with that?

****.. some kid killed himself from listening to "adam's song" by blink 182... the band is quoted as saying "but... that's an anti-suicide song..."

if a kid is gonna kill himself, then the music he's listening to doesn't make a difference. if he's gonna do it, he's gonna make his own excuse...

i don't believe in censorship... it's anti freedom of speech... it violates the constitution... and it's just plain stupid... if i flip a camera off, and they blur out my hand, who doesn't know what i'm doing? haha, i mean christ... if you don't want me to flip the camera off, then don't record me. it's that simple... and what's with bleeping out a single word? every person over the age of 14 knows enough about the english language to understand what the missing word is just from the context of the sentence... if you want this to be effective, try bleeping out the whole sentence... or better yet, just blank the audio for that sentence... then we'd all be thinking "daaaamn, he musta said somethin baaaaad" but no one would really know what except the people present... the government shouldn't control censorship issues... that should be up to parents... most of whom, i might add, need to wise up and reassume their roles as mentors and adults... the only form of censorship i agree with is keeping porn away from little kids... it's utter disconcerting to hear a friend's 5 year old kid say "mom and dad were making the bed creak last night"

lol

oh, and i'd be perfectly fine with having my kids listen to eminem or marilyn manson... there's more truth in that type of music than in most others... so to sum up all this in a sentence...

if you don't like what's on, change the bloody channel

I'm not sure if this will work, but isn't separation of church and state a form of censorship? You can't post the ten commandments in a publicly owned building or on public land, as the case in Mississippi. Not being able to say an organized prayer at a public function is a form of censorship.

Anyway, it's just an idea that I had and thought you might be able to expand it from there.

Good luck!!

Church State separation simply means that the gov't can't recognize any particular belief system as being more valid than any other, and cannot officially endorse sects. It gew out of the fact that the colonists got tired of paying taxes to the Anglicans, especially when they weren't all Anglicans.

It's funny to how the government chooses to enforce it. No Ten Commandments, but every piece of currency is stamped/engraved "In God We Trust" by law.
