if you are wanting something that doesnt break down all the time you may not want to look at the 94-95 gt's lol. I wouldnt buy a cobra over a GT either unless it was a really nice condition one, which it could be, due to they are nearly the same... a quick trip to ebay can make the GT more poweful than the cobra for petty darn cheap so dont get stuck on that road either.

94-95 GTs are pretty reliable from what I have seen... and it is all I can afford

Re: Well guys it is probably time to say good bye to my V6

its not the 5.0 thats been breaking down on me... its all the stupid accessories and censors. The engine runs fine though haha

And the 5.0 GT/Cobra have a lot of things different, to name a few:

Heads
Intakes
Injectors
Gear Ratio
TB
MAF
Cam
Rockers
Pistons

Ya 5.0s are teh win, this one is still running strong and fine at 176 thousand, my friends got a 95 GT and hes had it for about 3 years and he rags on it quite a damn bit, but the engine is still fine, only thing is a couple sensors like Zim said but he put about 40,000 of hard ridden miles on his GT and its still runnin like a champ, very reliable engines.

all that stuff you would change anyway if you were serious about moding. I dont think they changed the gear ratio in them. But that is a good question.

Damn brent sorry to see the 6 go. Had a lot of fun times in it haha, but a gt is even better! Dont settle for an auto either. I learned that lession. I loved my gt even though it was auto, but I should of gotten a stick.

My 96 gt came with 3.08's, but I think they changed the cobra's that year too. I'm not sure though.

Mine was an auto and had 3.08's. The 3.23 gear didn't come around untill 99.

I know a lot of the fox body GTs came with 2.73s, not sure about after that. My '91 Convertible GT had 2.73s. You could also get the 3.08s and even the 3.27s in some models (possibly only automatics from what I've heard).

no the 99-01 cobra had 3.27s, there were options here and there most hav 2.73 or 3.27 depending on year and what not. 2.73 comapred to 3.08 is kind of retarded.... no real reason to step it up by so little.

This makes me realize just how mortal my Stang is. It won't be perfect forever. I just hope when it starts crapping out, I'll have the money to just take it somewhere and have everything swapped for better stuff. At least, that's what I'm hoping for.

i still consider my car in better shape than most one year old cars, and its nearly 5 years old, but they do start to go down hill... no matter what you do they wear and tear. If you take care of them you can get a ton of life but... its not easy and not super cheap either lol.

Re: Well guys it is probably time to say good bye to my V6

Sorry to hear about your troubles with the 6. 94-95 well you have the 5.0. My 96 of course has the 4.6 with an automatic. I have 90,000 miles and I can keep up with the stock 5.0's. After putting in the 373 rears, BBk H-Pipe, and C.A.I., I pull away from them. I have only had one problem with this car. A bad O2 sensor. Other than that it has performed great. No complaints. Nitros is the next plan of action. Probibly a 75hp wet shot. Now won't that be fun!

Good luck on Stang Shopping!

Dang, Josť was supposed to call me when he found out what issue
we were going to be in! Is it still on newstands?

That combo was fun, emissions legal SC setup for the single port,
then I built a 4.3 bottom end for it and he still ran the old(er)
heads and cam that made 332 RWHP on the 3.8 stock bottom
end. I'ma gonna build an even bigger V6 for my self this year, and
the blueprint the machinist approved will have us easily over 4.6
and almost to 4.7 liters. I'll call it a 4.7 if it is at least 4.65+ liters.

^i was under the impression that 4.5 was the SAFEST max that could be had on the old pushrod v6... so that begs the question, how are you gonna pull it off?

The machinist I know probably built the world's first 408W stroker
(in 1987) and has built 351C strokers over 400 cubes which means
he has utilized strokes over 4.000" on a Cleveland... which has the
same deck height as our V6's! Just cuz Morana had trouble with a
4.6 stroker does not mean it cannot be built, it just means that he
did not find it feasible to bring to market in a profitable manner

It'll need really good heads just to make decent HP numbers, 300 RWHP NA
is doable with such heads, but it really needs 300 CFM intake flow to really
shine. As well as excellent flowing intake manifolds.
