Cool should i be glad or not?

I dont know what year it was, but we had some pulls from 45 to whenever i shut down. everytime i walked him, wish i had a camera though, we ended up talking and said if it was dry out it would of been nice from the light we raced from, but none of us could get trac. but just thought i would post this up, cause he looked embarassed to be beat by a 6...

Re: run in with 5.0 lx

not bad. alot of people bash on the 6er but its decently fast.

its equavilent in power feeling behind the wheel and 1/4 times as my old 94 4.6l tbird. when i test drove a v6 it felt EXACTLY the same in reference to pull in all gears as my tbird. and with my tbird, i had a couple run ins with fox 5.0's, and had the same outcome.

the 5.0 is a torque beast. it lacks the ability to make power up top, which is where you got him. the 6 has a more linear power response, and his torque was unuseable in a race from a roll like that. besides, if he was shifting too late and falling into the next gear after his hp peak, hes also kicking himself in the ***.

Re: run in with 5.0 lx

i wish it was dry out to see what the drag would of been like....that would of been fun to do....I never get anyone to race me, i either get the old people with cars teenagers would drive, or i get the older cars who think their cars are gonna kick my ***, but it turns out to be the opposite.

Its all in the cam. Factory cams suck for higher up power, as soon as you stuff a decent cam in the 5.0, even with stock heads, itll wake the car up in the upper RPM's.

Re: run in with 5.0 lx

I would of had a true dual then, but i dont thin the exhaust shop i went to knew that i wanted my exhaust welded up, instead of an whole new set. the quoted me at 180 which is not a bad deal at all IMO. but i have the exhaust in my truck, and its just sitting there until i can get it put/welded up

i think the 5.0 would do better off the line, then he would start to make a bit of a comeback

Re: run in with 5.0 lx

depends...easier to launch the six due to less torque and the foxes dont have very great tires on them, so Im thinking the fox would spin and the 6 would hook and get him off the line then the fox would catch up.

werd. there was once a 5.0 fox with cams and trickflow heads out one night, man he pulled up top like a mofo. i couldnt race the guy at the time, i had blown a hole in my IC pipe coupler earlier that night, so i couldnt make any boost, though i wouldve loved to tackle him. the guy was quite a hick though, stereotypical mullethead, rocking out to some GnR while driving his primer black fox.
