AL soon to loose kegs:

If you've got a kegerator, better fill it now. Looks like it isn't going to be long before you'll have to go to Tennessee to get your kegs filled.

Re: AL soon to loose kegs:

actually, wasn't this bill brought forth by the distributors? so then, technically, u would have to blame the beer companies for this one

Re: AL soon to loose kegs:

You know... if they'd lower the legal drinking age to, I dunno say 10, they wouldn't have this problem with underage drinking.

Oh well, Tennessee is only like 15 minutes from here.

Its all about what the people want, so let the state reps and senators know what you want.

The Free the Hops campaign is good, and I'd love to see the goals realized, but the guy running it is a total tool and ***-clown. Sorry.

Re: AL soon to loose kegs:

Keg, 6 pack, 12 pack, hummmmmmmmmm.

Method of delivery is not the problem. Problem is with the parents and those selling to underage persons!!

That's about as stupid as the gun legislation a few years back, limiting ammo clips to a certain amount. WTF!!

Re: AL soon to loose kegs:

or Milwaukee's Beast.

The guy who started Free the Hops is just a weirdo. He was on the daily show, and granted they do make everybody look like a fool, but this guy said a particular beer was "Beer-licious." You can't make that **** up. He's not getting the word out enough either.

This is where my GF goes to school, all they do is go to the town over, buy them, and when they run out they go get more.. Drunk Driving went up.

College town dumps kegs
MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) Beer drinkers in this college town will have to settle for bottles or cans more than a dozen liquor stores have quit selling kegs.
The stores are hoping to ditch low profits from kegs, compared with beer sold by the case. Some say they also hope the move will help cut down on alcohol-related violence and accidents.

"The majority of students are very angry because they don't get why we're doing this," said Chris Johnson, manager of Muncie Liquor.

All six of the chain's stores have been no-keg zones since Saturday. At one store, a popular mural featuring a Ball State University Cardinal with a keg and the logo "Keg Headquarters" has been painted over.

"A keg weighs 165 pounds. That's a lot of weight for my people to handle," said Johnson. "It's tough on our equipment, it's tearing up our coolers, and I no longer see the profitability of it."

Save-On Liquor also has quit selling kegs at its six stores in Muncie, and Friendly Package has joined in as well.

But some beer drinkers particularly those of college age don't understand why the stores would quit selling a product that is sought-after, profitable or not.

"You tell kids at other schools that you go to Ball State, and now you're going to hear, 'You mean that school where you can't buy a keg?'" said senior Aaron Shepard.
