No the pay does suck as bad as you have heard. There is just not much to spend money on over there when you are in the desert. Amen to the fact that they deserve it.

Apparently, my buddy spent his entire pay and enlist bonus in bootcamp on essentials and food...

My other friend who went to Iraq came back with over 30 grand though...

and it is tax free while over there. I had most of my bills paid off by the time i got home
