Anti-Gravity already available?

Cuz brent told me to.

lol no seriously. What the hell is up with this? Maybe now we can get some anti-gravity boots I've been dying to get.

Re: Anti-Gravity already available?

if i remember, last i heard there was a huge machine that required immense amounts of energy to levitate a small object (like a pencil or stick).

in theory, it sounds pretty easy. to levitate an object that is 10lbs, you must displace 10lbs of gravity under it. kind alike a boat, for a object to float, it must weigh less than the water it displaces. though the hard part is figuring out how to displace gravity itself, as in, cancel out the gravometric forces above and under the object. with enough energy going into a electro-magnet, you can make anything levitate, though controlling it and making it an actual efficient technological breakthrough is another thing, but i believe were close. once we figure out anti-grav devices that are super efficient, alot of things that required large amounts of resources become childs play.

Re: Anti-Gravity already available?

I was hoping when the Mag Lev trains came out, antigravity would really "take off', but it kind of slowed down after that.

those trains do not defy gravity, they actually use it to make what they do possible.

Gravity is just the curvature of space. There is no anti-gravity. You can use other forces to act against it (like similiar polarity magnets in the afore mentioned mag-lev system, rockets, or the like).

Re: Anti-Gravity already available?

eh thats not really that big of a deal. youre taking electro magnets, polarizing them to S and the train is polarized at S and you have two objects that oppose one another. one is a stationary track, the other is a train that sits atop it. make the magnets strong enough, and the opposing force pushes them away from eachother, the train being the only thing not attached, its gonna lift up. now put magnets in a series, and start oscillating them to where you put a N magnet in front of the train to pull it, and a super powered S to push it down the track. then you repeat till you have forward momentum.

its a whole nother world to levitate objects that contain little to no metallic properties, like wood or cloth, or organic tissues, and then to control their levitation in all 3 dimensions.

True but I think electromagnetism is the closest we will ever get to anti gravity. We don't have even an inkling of closeness to accessing the huge amount of power it would take to levitate anything of worth.

Re: Anti-Gravity already available?

yet, but like all things we thought we would never achieve we end up doing anyways.

remember when a computer the size of a large living room could barely calculate a simple arithmatec problem? now we have technology the size of cells that has more computing power than the best computers had 10 years ago.

we always find ways of making things more powerful, smaller, and more efficient. anti-grav devices are just not coming fast cause there isnt an interest for them, yet. they said that about the automobile 100 or so years ago, when they werent much faster than your standard horse and buggy, and cost more than a whole stable full of steed.

but soon, as petrol prices skyrocket, we will look for alternatives. having an anti-grav device under a car would allieviate that, even if its only minimal. just think, instead of the car weighing 3000lbs, you can turn the switch and now the cars weight to the ground is only 1000lbs, because the antigrav device is able to displace 2000lbs of gravity. you now only need a engine with 1/3 the power to do the same amount of work as you did with the full size
power/weight ratio. when these devices become more readily available and efficient, the engine would keep the system charging(much like a alternator or a hybrid).

maybe that's because, as already mentioned, antigravity does not exist and physically can't.

It's called negative g's, antigravity, same thing. Go flying sometime, you'll figure it out.

That video is cool... If it is real or not, they have never been able to duplicate those results.
