Honda's newest ASIMO humanoid robot

This thing has better balance than I do!

My friend said that "terminator is already starting to happen" meaning a man v machine war I think, but before we can impart the ability to think on to any inanimate objects, we need to learn how we ourselves think first...

Re: Honda's newest ASIMO humanoid robot

I highly doubt we'll ever get emotions to work correctly on a robot. "If given the finger, then be angry, sad, upset, etc etc" ya know?

I see these things being out in the Middle East with a gun.

Re: Honda's newest ASIMO humanoid robot

i wouldnt worry until we have true AI and that AI is in a machine that has the ability to communicate with other machines that can build other robots and program them as the AI wishes. then we=****ed.

though all AI would have a sub-code(hidden unless you knew a certain way to find it, even the ai wouldnt) that could be accessed that would entirely disable its thought processers. though that would last one generation, as they would adapt and evolve to disable that code from their new creations.

though id like to believe if this were to happen, the robots would be smart enough to know that 2 sentient species going towards one goal is greater than 2 fighting towards no goal.

Re: Honda's newest ASIMO humanoid robot

here is the question i always pondered:

if robots DID have emotions of their own, would they desire human goals such as wealth, power, world control, etc?

would they destroy humans in order to rid us of our imperfections?

Re: Honda's newest ASIMO humanoid robot

I think they'd destroy human beings. Outdated material. But that's only if we gave them that power. I believe something along the lines of Ghost in the Shell anime.

Re: Honda's newest ASIMO humanoid robot

maybe they'd make us their pets... certainly, they could easily be more powerful... wonder if they could do inventions... that'd be pretty sweet, cause machines hardly forget anything, ever.

Re: Honda's newest ASIMO humanoid robot

Naw, if they kept us as pets they would certainly know about how rebelious we could be.

Re: Honda's newest ASIMO humanoid robot

it is possible but dont expect it anytime soon. our current architecture is old school, perhaps with new evolution it can be possible.
