Finally have a job interview!

After being out of school and looking for a job for 4 months, I finally have my first job interview. I've already done a phone interview with them, and it sounds like I have a very good chance of getting the job. It's an entry-level software engineer position with L3 Communications in Greenville, Texas (just outside Dallas). They're flying me out there Sunday night, giving me a rental car, setting me up in a hotel, and flying me back Monday night after the interview. Can't beat that.

I really don't want to move out to Texas (Emissions testing = ), but I think this one's too good to pass up if I can get the job.

Which brings me to a Mustang related question... if I do end up getting the job... what should I do about my car?

It probably won't pass emissions as it sits, but with a tune (which I really need anyway) and a catted x-pipe, it should pass with no problems. Of course, I could sell the 5.0 and just buy an 03-04 Cobra. But I really hate to get rid of the 5.0, because I'll never get my money out of the car ,and my dad and I practically built it from the ground up. Finally, I could keep the 5.0 and just swallow the $450+ monthly car payment that would come with buying an 03 with no down payment on the loan. I'm thinking I could afford this fairly easily, but I can't be totally sure at this point.

So, whaddya think?

Congrats and good luck. And with the car situation, its a tough call. Your car is vert nice, but so is an 03 cobra. I have no idea what I would do.

Keep the 5.0. You have the car, you know the car through and through, you know its weak and strong points. Keep it.

L-3 is a good company. They are a direct competitor to Lockheed. They do heavy MOD maintenance on P-3 and C-130 aircraft. Actually Lockheed owns about 21% of L-3. It would be a good company to work for with good benefits and good advancement

Yea, don't make up your mind yet.

If worse comes to worse, keep the 5.0. Get a beater and drive it. Then save for a Cobra or something else.

Yeah, it's just a matter of not necessarily trusting the ol' 5.0 to make the trek from Alabama to Texas and possibly back every once in a while. Last summer I had some overheating issues with it, but I think I've got all that sorted out now. It turned out to be a bad connection in my DC fan controller. I haven't seen the temp go past 195 since, but it hasn't seen 95+ degree, 100% humidity days since then either.

Right now, I'm leaning towards going through and doing a little tune up (plugs & wires, distributor cap & rotor, fuel filter and tranny fluid), getting a fresh alignment, having it dyno tuned, and not worrying about it. Oh yeah, and I've got to put a new a/c compressor on it too. Other than that, I think it'll do just fine, even if it may drink a little more gas than something else would.
