Party in New Orleans this weekend

Ok...so who is going? Sounds like it will be a big time in the city this weekend...

Quote:
New Orleans, LA) -- Reverend Jesse Jackson is leading a protest in New Orleans this weekend. He is calling it a "March for the Right to Return, A Protected Vote and Reconstruction." He says it will be quote, "the most national march since Selma in 1965." Jackson has been among civil rights activists calling for increased measures to give evacuees the opportunity to vote in the April 22nd New Orleans elections. He has also been outspoken about the response to Hurricane Katrina and difficulties evacuees face in coming back to New Orleans and rebuilding their homes. Some of the others participating in the rally and march are Bill Cosby, Harry Belafonte, Reverend Al Sharpton and NAACP President Bruce Gordon.
I am kind of shocked that Bill Cosby will be there. I thought he was disowned and considered a white devil after his comments about his fellow bretheren....

Nothing like letting people vote that may...or may not...move back into the city. I wonder if they are fighting for the displaced white folk to vote in this election as well.

tards. I'd go throw rocks, but that's a long way.

I thought Bill Cosby was disowned too after the poundcake speech.

What is there to vote about? And are they gonna find every black person that used to live in New Orleans and get them to vote?

The mayoral elections were postponned due to the caines....and they are protesting because they are trying to have the elections in April but the NAACP wants them to wait so that all of the people that used to live in NO that are now spread all over (mostly the Houston folks) can vote. This is the whole reason that Nagin came out with his chocolate city comment. He also said that they should vote for him because they shouldn't vote for someone that doesn't look like them.

Basically, they want Nagin to stay in...but he is not going to as there are 15 other cadidates running. In fact, there is also a billboard in houston that has a pic of Nagin that says "Re-elect our mayor"....someone from Houston called Walton and Johnson and asked when they elected Nagin to be the mayor of Houston. lol

Five people walking down the street. This is gonna be great.

Instead of pissing about the mayor, why not help build some houses.
