settled on my car today, insurance-wise

this is with my 2001 v-6 automatic flamed Mustang coupe... 89,000 miles on it

they offered $9,000, minus the deductible and the buy-back cost, so $7,600.
my dad declined this offer, stating the car is worth more than that. The stock value of the car is $8700, and I told them about $3000 worth of add-ons.

So, we get to today... we're starting to get annoyed that it's taken almost 2 months to settle... and I'm wanting to buy a bike. So, my dad calls them up again, and starts dealing... he calls me and says, ok, they made an offer, let me run it by you:

"they are offering $9000, and you get to keep the car, and the deductible is already taken out of that". So, yeah, I came out looking like a bandit. I'm selling the car for $2000 to a friend, so I'll have $11,000 cash. That's a pretty good settlement for my car, I think anyway.

we'll see... plus, I'll have a jobbie... The Saleen isn't one that's in 'perfect' condition... that's how I'm getting a discount.

Re: settled on my car today, insurance-wise

no... it's being sold through an auction site that only auto body repair shops can bid on... and since my buddy both owns his own ship, and works at a shop... he can view them.

So I'm guessing your gonna get a Saleen that's basically a GT with his kit on it?

Re: settled on my car today, insurance-wise

no..... it's an actual Saleen. It's a 2000. This company holds auctions for insurance companies that collect damaged cars... and then sells them directly to auto body companies, through an auction site.

Good luck with it... I would spend my money on something that was already in good condition and didn't need work...

I never said I was laying down that much for the Saleen. And it's not terribly messed up.

Re: settled on my car today, insurance-wise

I'd pick up a V6 for around $5k and drop the other $6k in the engine.

Re: settled on my car today, insurance-wise

i think its a bad idea to buy a meh condition saleen, thats a stock gt with a few this and thats, and saleens are overpriced.. but if you get a deal that would be about what a gt would bring then thats not that bad either.

Re: settled on my car today, insurance-wise

The only Saleen's worth buying are the S-281Es and the old S351. The rest are either GTs with body kits or GTs with superchargers.
