So I got bored tonight...

And nothing is what resulted. I know it's not perfect (the "interface" looks a little rough, I don't think it's exactly centered b/c of the way I made the pics), but the calculations are right anyway.

I just thought it would be something cool to do since everyone seems to be asking about tires and sizes these days. I may do a little more work to it later. I'm thinking it would be helpful to have a sidebar or something with stock tire heights for the different year Mustangs or something like that. And maybe a percentage to compare how off a entered tire size would be from a selected stock tire height.

I haven't done any Javascript in a while and thought this would be a good way to brush up. I've also got in an .exe written in C# if anyone's interested. That's actually how I started on it anyway until I decided it would be a lot better if I could share it on the web.

A calculator that shows the difference in MPH readings would be nice too. Not sure what height tells anyone, but I am not a wheel guru either. Like something that calcs the tire width would be nice too....and one that calcs the circumference too so people can see if the overall size changes.

None the less...good job...would be a nice addition.

Sure. Like I said, it needs a little bit of work still. I messed with the layout for a while and got so sick of CSS that I was about to do something bad to my computer. I was trying to have three different divs... the input and calculate button on the left, the wheel image on the right, and the message at the bottom. I could get it to work pretty much... except I couldn't get the left and right divs to center together in the middle of the screen. I wanted the right side of the left div to be flush with the left side of the right div directly in the center of the screen. CSS sucks.

If anyone of you CSS guys out there can tell me how to do this, I'd appreciate it. This is why I try to avoid web-based programming...

Basically, it just lets you compare tire heights to decide which height will be closest to stock when you are changing to a different tire size. I should be able to calculate MPH changes pretty easily . I just can't decide if it would be better to let them just choose their model of Mustang (79-04, 05+) which generally have tire heights very close to the same, except for special models like the 95 Cobra R and such, or they could just enter the stock tire size.

Maybe I could also do a wheel width suggestion for the tire size entered to spread the message of the evil of 245s on a 9 wide...

Re: So I got bored tonight...

mine is 31, but it says that on the side of the tire, so I didn't really need the calculator. Cool little thing tho.

Re: So I got bored tonight...

add a percentage increase overall and vs speedo readings so people can see how much the size difference will effect them stock vs what not.

Done.

I'm still not sure if I like just selecting the year model of Mustang. I may add a option for a custom size that will enable another input where you can enter in your own size. In fact, that's a pretty damn good idea and is exactly what I'll do.

BTW, you FireFox guys and Netscape (if any of you exist) let me know if anything looks weird. I'm using IE, which is probably a good thing because it always seems give the most trouble lining things up and running scripts.

Re: So I got bored tonight...

Nevermind... apparently geocities doesn't like that particular script...

It worked perfect locally on the hard-drive... :dunno:

Does anyone know of somewhere I can host this thing without them disabling my script? I've tried Geocities and my Bellsouth personal page and they both won't let it run because they're too busy running their own. Damn these corporations!

Re: So I got bored tonight...

Well apparently Geocities deleted my account because I was "promoting or re-directing traffic to another site" which is obviously a violation of the terms of service. Oh well, **** them mother****ers. They ain't ****.

Wouldn't let me run my damn script anyway. Sorry bastards. I wished they'd send a rep to my house or something to personally tell me this ****. Hell, I'm drunk enough to go to jail tonight.

"Free" web hosting my ***.

Re: So I got bored tonight...

Alright, it's working again... finally. It's also got a couple more things added to it. It's actually useful now.

EDIT: Took down the link when I clicked it once and it popped up more ads than a damn porn site. Oh well, hopefully it'll be hosted here pretty soon. Just gotta work some bugs out.
