exactly how far up does water have to come on our cars before ANY damage will occur..........i have a stock suspension btw.

reason i am asking is b/c there is a damn near monsoon above us right now and there is about 4 inches of standing water around my car now and the weather doesnt look like it is letting up anytime soon.

so yeah, might be gettin a new car soon

try not go get water into your intake or up past your oil pan and you shouldnt have a problem engine wise.

4 inches of standing water isn't going to hurt your car... 10 inches wouldnt reach your exhaust....

Re: water and mustangs

and water still needs to travel upwards in the exhaust system, it has to be as high as your exhaust manifolds to get up in there and cause damage

the only problem is if it gets past your weather strip

Re: water and mustangs

stick it on jackstands and hope strong winds dont prevail. other than that, it would have to get sucked into the motor to cause any damage.

Re: water and mustangs

I drove my Crown vic into high water, up to the center "ford"cap on the wheels, and i have every reason to think it jacked my car up. I think it shorted out my #8 "COP" and got into some wires. it never drove right after that night. so i would toss it on some stands.

Re: water and mustangs

I think he was more refering to sitting in the parking lot and water running inside the car and causing damage. He wasn't driving it around last night, but his lot was getting flooded. I know my street had 8-10" of standing water at times.

Re: water and mustangs

even if it got to your doors, the weather strippign would do a pretty good job of keeping water out
