For home defense there is only one weapon

A SHOTGUN WITH 00 BUCKSHOT goes thru sheetrock walls like it was paper. Hell you really dont even have to be a great aim and even if they dont get hit the sound of a 12 ga going off in a house sounds like a Howitzer!!! They will run and keep running

Hell, just the sound of loading a shell into the chamber is enough to scare most off. Trust me, I've done it before.

After seeing this gun in action and dropping a kodiak in its tracks in 1 shot from 50 yards...I figure it should be enough to reach through any walls/chimneys/office buildings/etc that someone might hide behind in my living room.

What exactly are you going to do with a pistol that weights 70 oz That is nearly 5 pounds you have to hold out in front of you steady and hit a target. Here is what you cant do with that gun, wheel it around, aim and hit a moving target. That gun is designed for being still and hunting prey that does not know you are there or targets. You cant even hold that with your arms straight out for 5 minutes and hit a damn thing. If you dont believe me take a 5 lb weight and hold it out with your arms striaght for 5 mins. MUAHAHHAHAHAHHAHA

Guns that big are for bragging about how big your gun is compared to your penis!!! MUHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA

If you read my posts, it is for 2 things....

1.) To be all tacticle where the perp doesn't know I am there and I am stalking him. It would be just like stalking game. Door jams and furniture can make great gun rests as you near the end of your stalk.
2.) To let fly from anywhere in the house no matter where the perp is in the house. Say there are 3 perps that broke in. I let fly from the bedroom...my guess it would scare the **** out of them to either see their buddies start dropping or see plaster board buzzing by their head.

and just to throw a few more reason to get it in there....

3.) If said perp decides to run out of the house....I have plenty of reach to reach down the street....or plenty of hitting power to reach into and through his vehicle as he tries to get away.
4.) To cause as much damage as possible to whomever is on the receiving end. You come into my house, I will cause plenty of damage before you die. I don't just want to poke a hole in someone...I want to remove limbs with a shot to the knee cap and make large craters before said loser goes bye bye. 00 buck shot would be perfect, but I don't have a suitible 12 guage yet.
5.) To go hunting with periodically.

As for the shotgun for home protection...sure, they are nice. However, since I don't have a short barrel shotgun, carrying something down hallways and trying to wheel it around when it is a little over 4 feet long is not practicle. Someday I will get a tacticle shotgun just to get one....until then, the 50 will work just fine.

But you are correct, head shots with even a .22 will kill the most persistant attacker. We used to kill 1000+ lb bulls with one .22LR to the head. Never had one to make a single step.

Would not try that with a shoulder shot though. That was more my point.

I have a Benelli M1 Field 12ga 3in mag with a 18 in barrel. More than short enough to swing around in a hallway

I have a Ruger 944 40sw under my bedframe at home with clip in it loaded and ready to go. I can be up and shoot someone dead instantly. I still to this day freak my wife out at my ability to hear a noise outside and be wide awake with my pistol and be already at the front dooor while she is still trying to get out of bed. I sleep so lightly. I was at a hunting camp about 8 years ago and had my beretta 92 with a laser sight under my bunk mattress when I heard a noise in chimney across the room. I instantly got up with pistols sighted and fired waking everyone up instantly in a panic. when I told everyone to calm down I told them to turn on the lights there was a 6 foot timber rattler without a head laying in front of the chimney. It had crawled up through the trap door in the floor that was used to sweep out the ashes. I hate spring time hunting because of the snakes

Re: This is why you carry a gun and extra ammo at all times

I think the S&W M&P will make a great conceiled carry piece. it is more narrow then my sigma but still feels great in the hands. I went to a gun show today shopping around for an AR15. I'll probably go with an olympic arms plinker plus as an entry level AR for under $600. I'll build up a nice one later
