Bahahahahaha!!!

I have a fried PCM now! ROFLMFAO!!!!

As some of you may know, I have taken my car to have it retuned. Well I arrived at the dyno shop who's dyno had been down for a bit. They had just gotten in all the parts they needed to fix it. So they called me up and were like, "Hey we've got it fixed come on down!". So I was like w00t!

Well I arrived and the dyno was still not working. So they called their tech guy who promised them that this "other part" would completely fix the problem. So they made the tech guy overnight it.

Promise it will be done the next day.

Next day: Part arrives, they get it fixed and get a whole 2 pulls with the car on it and boom. Quits working again. Now it is suspected that their circiut board stack blew an entire circuit board. Apparently this part had been sent off to be fixed the first time the dyno wasn't working and it came back with 9 amp fuses where 1/4, yes 1/4 amp fuses were supposed to be.

So they tell me they just want to get me taken care of so they will hire another shop's dynojet to get the car tuned on. They take it over there, and call in a guy who is supposed to be an expert on V6 stang with FI tuning.

Promise it will be done the next day.

Next day: Goober pulls out my old chip that held the previous tune WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, and boom, fried PCM!!!!!!

Now they get to hunt down another PCM, reprogram my key, and then they can start tuning the car again.

Now it may not be done till Monday depending on how long it takes to get the PCM.

I am just flabbergasted!!!

w00t!!!!!!!!!!!

:woo: :woo: :woo: :woo:

I used to run a carburetor on my old Camaro. If life works out the way I want it to, I'll never have to mess with a carburetor ever again.

Re: Bahahahahaha!!!

Ok, at first I was like "WTF, that's awesome. I don't think I could be such a dumbass if I tried!".

Now I'm getting very angry. I'm calling them tomorrow and laying down the law. I WILL BE DAMNED TO HELL IF I PAY FOR ANYTHING MORE THAN THE X-CAL II. I will NOT pay for this horse**** that should have been done Thursday afternoon.

Now I get to worry about what kind of PCM they are going to dig up. If it will be for the appropriate years, will my alarm and remote ignition still work. What actual condition is it in, has it been just rotting outside at a junkyard corroding. I know about 80% of my warranty is blown anyway, but how will this affect the warranty of the actual onboard electronics...

Is my odometer recorded through the PCM?

Re: Bahahahahaha!!!

What you're gonna have to do it not take delivery of the car unless everything works perfectly. If your passenger door doesn't unlock like it's supposed to, tell them to fix it. If it takes too long, demand a rental/temporary car. If your odometer is off by .1 miles from what you remembered it being, demand they fix it. Basically, make sure everything is perfect, make sure you are perfectly happy with the way the work was done, the parts that were used, and the final product of the car. If you're not completely happy, demand it is fixed. Simple as that.

Re: Bahahahahaha!!!

Look, the advice I give is make them fix it all. Do not take it upon yourself to have anything done. If the odometer is wrong, make them fix it like it was. If something else it wrong, say they forget to put a plastic piece back in correctly in the car, make them fix it.

this is true, its entirely their fault, up to this point it seems they are trying to be reasonable and work with you.. after all they looked for another shop and such to get you settled, just see what happens when monday comes and hope for hte best

Re: Bahahahahaha!!!

I had a shop put a hole in my oil pan not too long ago. They weren't very happy with me when it was all said and done. Not only did they buy a 200 dollar oil pan from ford, but they had to do all the install, and give me a rental car for 2 days. But ya know what, the problem got fixed.

Re: Bahahahahaha!!!

I don't think the mileage is stored in the PCM. I've swapped the computers around in several cars without it junking up the odometer.

That's what I was thinking. It was more or less just something I threw out there because I wasn't sure...

About making them fix everything:
I just want to get it away from them. Granted that the problems with the dyno are not their fault, and it was the guy they brought in that pulled the chip (supposedly), but there is a lack of communication going on since yesterday that is bothering the piss out of me. They said they were going to work on it last night and today and I have not been able to get a hold of them to ask questions like this, and I seriously doubt they are even there. I know it's a lot to ask them to work on a Sunday and what not, but hell, I have to work on Sundays, and "they" screwed up the only means of transport I have. This should have been done Thursday afternoon, and here comes Monday with no indication in sight of what's going on or how long it will take or what shape this "new" PCM will be in AND I STILL don't have any means of self transportation!!!!!!!

Hate to hear they messed your stuff up. Sucks!!

Dynospeed Racing in Memphis. Well worth the drive to Memphis for the level of work you get. Joe is VERY good at the Dyno laptop.

I have heard of them also, but they also don't have faith in the 3.8. One guy on 3.8 went there and despite his insistance, they only tuned it to 8psi. He had to go elsewhere to get it where he wanted it.

If I'm forking over the money, I want it where I want it.

****ers haven't even been there all day. So now they just decided to sit on it an extra few days so it can marinate.

Re: Bahahahahaha!!!

So I fnally got a hold of them today.

They know I'm not happy. They did at least get the computer ordered on Monday and hoped it would be in today or Wednesday. They also ordered ANOTHER part for the dyno that they hope to get Wednesday.

My prediction: The dyno still wont work and they will have to make another appointment with the people who brought the dip**** that pulled the chip. I'm looking at doing well to get the car back by Saturday now even though they say Wednesday.

But they did get a new PCM for it so that is one less thing to worry about that I shouldn't have had to worry about in the first place.
