F'ed up my car...

So the other day I was coming back ffrom class driving on Highway 118 and I came over a hill, well I guess either a) my hood was unlatched or b) the wind got a hold of it and ripped the hood up over the windshield and roof.

Now I kept the car under control but it ****ed alot of stuff up. For one thing my roof is all bent up and there are two divots where my hoodpins were(this was my carbon fiber hood). The driver side hood hinge bent over the wiper blade a tad so now fitment of the stock is less than perfect.

My windshield didn't shatter but it did spider along the cowl lines on the hood. Im at school right now so no pics but soon. teacher is *****ing...

Re: F'ed up my car...

I was relying on the car's stock latch until I got the money for new pins. One of my post's snapped last year. I thought I would be alright but the fiberglass was real thin where the safety had been rubbing everytime you shut the hood and when the wind got under it I guess it ripped the latches hook right through it. I will show pics when I go home to get my car back.

Re: F'ed up my car...

I had that happen a couple of weeks ago. We came back from a cruise show, I had to work that nite, so I left the hood up to cool off in the garage. My girlfriend was going to drive it up to work and take my truck home. She went out and just closed the hood, without latching the pins. When she got back, she backed it out and went on the main road. About a block on the main road at 35mph it came up. The cowling came through the windshield and poked two holes in the dash pad, along with busting the hood struts right off and scratching the paint everywhere. I just got it back in time for the Woodward Dream Cruise, (drove it from the dealer to the show). Over $5000 damage. I can totally sympathized with what you went through. It sucks for all the hard work to go through to keep it looking good to have some crap like that happen.

Re: F'ed up my car...

Thanks for the sympathies but I thinik I will use this as my excuse to get either the razzi, roush, or abc lip kit and finish off my looks entirely.

I dunno what they are going to have to paint after body work on the roof but if it is more than hlaf of the car or even close to it I'll end up getting a new color.

Now question is, which one.
