oucccchhhhhh

Really ****ed up my knee last night, spend a few hours in the hospital...and its the worst freakin pain i have ever felt in my entire life---my leg is swollen all around my knee, there is a welt the size of a grapefruit and i can't stand on it or bend it

sucks, horribly

on top of it, i may need surgury to fix it, thank god its not broken though, but it still hurts so freakin bad

lets hope i didn't screw up my entire career from this as well...

oh and i fell running, i tripped over some uneven sidewalk and hit the ground, when i tried to get up, i couldn't move my leg or feel my toes or ankle...

oh well

I have faith in you though, you're hard headed enough you'll do as you want anyways. Trust me, I've been told I couldn't do stuff by doctors, it's fun to prove them wrong.

Re: oucccchhhhhh

yeah the xrays i got came up with nothing, the thing that they are worried about is a torn acl...even a refractured ankle (but they can't tell because i have a permenant fracture line in my ankle from previous injuries)

all i can say is, frozen mixed vegetables ftw...my entire leg is being iced with vegetables lol

so far its just simply passing the civil service exam and an interview with the bosses at your department, but it varies from department to department.

at the academy itself, you have to be able to run a mile in under 11 (thats cake), be able to shoot (which apparently is the hardest part of the academy 2: ), speed cuffing, boxing, and tons and tons of bookwork...academy itself is 24 weeks

i've been at monmouth county academy for a little over a week now for CO training, so i've been able to watch the recruits...last week they had "inspection day" where they had to go to their cars and show proof of insurance, unexperied drivers license, their registration and inspection up to date. If any of these failed, they were issued tickets lol (if they are cops, then they can't break the law)

i've spoken to drill instructors and some of the recruits, i'm just not as worried about it as i was before, in fact, i'm ready to kick some ***

Re: oucccchhhhhh

thats cool,
STANDARDS
Vertical Jump 13.5 inches
One Minute Sit-Ups 24
300 Meter Run 82 seconds
Maximum Push-ups 21
1.5 Mile run 18 minutes 56 seconds

thats to get into the academy for the state police ( I go for my poly test next week)

and here is Indianapolis MPD (the large city by me) I go for a oral on 9-5-06
Quote:
The Academy curriculum is a strong mix of academic and physical courses. Currently, recruit officers receive 932 hours of training in a 24 week period. Some local universities, (i.e., IUPUI, University of Indianapolis) offer up to 12 college credits relating to academy training for a nominal fee.

Subject Hours
Administration 47
Criminal Justice and Related Matters 36
Human Behavior 76
Law 98
Patrol Procedures and Traffic Services 81
Criminal Investigations and Forensic Sciences 36
Emergency Vehicle Operations Course 50
American Red Cross Emergency Response 37
Use of Force 157
Police Skills 45
Physical Conditioning 41
Examinations 48

Recruits must successfully complete all academy courses. All aspects of training are essential to the recruit. The training not only ensures retention by the Department as a probationary officer, but it ensures the ability to function as a professional police officer for the City of Indianapolis.

The Academy schedule is primarily Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, with some weekend and evening training required.

All essential equipment (uniforms, weapons, body armor, gun belt, etc.) are issued during the training period. Take-home police cars are issued based on availability after the successful completion of the probationary year. The Academy is not live-in, therefore recruits must find their own residential accommodations. Recruit officers receive "probationary officer" pay from the first day of the Training Academy.

Recruits are strictly prohibited from holding outside employment during their training and probationary periods. They also are strictly prohibited from performing any direct law enforcement related functions requiring police powers.

Upon graduation from the academy, recruits are placed in the Field Training Officer Program.

Re: oucccchhhhhh

alright thought i would update

looks like i'm going to need surgery...i'm just waiting/fighting to get my insurance taken care of from my previous job (they didn't apply for my cobra insurance, grrrr) so i can get the MRI then it will go straight to surgery--looks like knee, ankle and foot will need some work done (ask montecitan, he saw my foot and can attest to its swollen size)

so yeah, once surgery happens, i probably won't be on here for a while...just wish me luck as i'm freakin scared of going under the knife
