Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

There is a thread around here from Stang804GT or something like that about how to get ride of that irritating noise.

Congrats on the purchase...too bad it came defective with that annoying noise that is tied to the gas pedal...mine came that way too. It is so damn annoying....to everyone I pass.

EDIT:

And....:worthless

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

I had ford check mine out, turns out there is a totaly wasteful silver thing on top of the motor that is used for smog or some crap. They pulled it off and it fixed the issue.

BTW: you now have until 10pm tonight to post pictures or your account will be suspended forever.

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

lol its sooooooo dirty though. the guy lives on the top of a freaking mountain in the middle of a forest. his commute consited of 35 minutes of insanely twisty roads followed by 10 minutes of freeway. so yeah, driving up there basically re-iterated the fact that he said "yeah, its been driven like a cobra should". i tore *** down the mountain.

and for pics. just think of smurfins with a hardtop. i wouldnt say specs cause it doesnt have the chrome dubs( though im thinking some chrome or hyperblack FR500's would look BA)

i dont think theres much need for go fast mods, until one of our dsm's runs and has a setup that lasts long enough to get from the house to the freeway/track. prolly get some spintechs instead of this boring droney bassani crap. maybe suspension stuff. the stereo is already hooked up pretty well, maybe a small 10" sub for ****s and giggles. oh and his mgw shifter sucks *** so a tri-ax will be ordered.

oh and what rear end ratio comes stock? i was cruising at 80mph and taching ~2500rpm's.

the drive there was badass. I was in Ellie and came up on a GT-H and we had some fun. 2 old guys thought they were badass till they saw my car and dropped jaws. then on the way home there was a 05 GT with the Cervenis C500 kit. my buddy was driving Ellie, i was in "Ruby" and the C500 was next to me, all in a line driving down 580. was pretty sick.

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

http://www.mustangevolution.com/gall.../550/regal.wmv my car whines too, I think maybe my alternator is bad??

(P.S. I've since put on a 3.4" pulley, tuned the PCM a bit.. it shifts at a slightly lower RPM but is a bit quicker due to slightly more fuel.. when I made that video I had a boatload of knock ******, along the lines of 8-9*.. its at 0 now WITH the 3.4.. plus it was 90 some degrees outside..)

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

It's probably just the power steering pump. All Ford power steering pumps whine. It's cause they were made that way. It's science.

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

yeah its prolly cause fords are more straightline vehicles and dont like to be turned, so the power steering pump whines so the driver can keep her in a straight line like it should.

Yeah, it's some kind of retarded smog pump. I think it's a California thing. I would yank that sucker off and you'll get atleast a 10-20hp gain...to the wheels.

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

sorry for the delay oh mighty ones. finished with the brakes on Ellie but the camera wasnt set on the dock right so it never charged correctly and would die as soon as the lens extended, so i had to wait for it to charge enough for a few pics. the car came with a billett fuel door which wasnt doing anything for me looks wise, so i put the stocker back on. im gonna throw the billet one on Ellie, as it will look awesome with the bullitt rims and scheme. its a 22k$ freebie i guess. also threw the stock 6spd shift knob instead of the weird jetfighter momo one the guy had. and my buddy took out the silencer/packing tubes from the bassani mufflers. i havent driven it yet with them out, but revving it in my driveway just sounded insanely loud. sadly, my buddy did all these "Mods" in like 5 minutes while i was working on ellie, and was like "Dammit, you modded my car before me!" oh well.

i guess i can change my sig........

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

My whine under acceleration is from the BBK cold air intake I have. I thought it was a wheel bearing until somebody told me it was the CAI last night.
Of course I had already replaced the inner and outer bearings on that side.

hahaha i like being unique

but when i worked at NMRA a couple of weeks ago, we had 6 comp orange cars show up--3 cobras (one vert), a saleen, a svt focus, and my car

too bad one of the cobras got totaled racing though...it was a 700hp turbo cobra

so when you used to think of 450rwhp in imports... how does that compare to 450rwhp~ in a domestic v8?

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

its different power that you cant compare.

the eaton comes on smooth, and is very smooth to redline. that same amount of power in a dsm would be very violent, it would be laggy since it would require a large turbo, it would hit all at once and pull like a raped ape, but for maybe 2k rpm's, whereas this pulls from way down low(1500rpm) all the way to the top.

everyone with dsm's who i have given rides said at first "it doesnt feel that fast" and when i told them, "umm, that was 80 at the end of 2nd" theyre like "whoa, that **** is smooth". my buddy with the srt4 is the only one whose been in the car through 3rd, he though 2nd was nice but wasnt impressed, till i took him through the top of 3rd and he was astonished. said he might be able to stick around through 2nd but once i get into 3rd itd be over.

i have a few runs lined up come test n tune, couple dsm guys think they can take out teh cobra. its all fun IMO i dont mind a little competition between freinds and believe overall competition is what makes the world turn. now all i need to buy is a redfire helmet.

noticed the wheel hop yet? Its usually not bad in hardtops when the tires are warm... be careful when its cold and turn that damn traction control off.

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

Spec i havent really launched it to its fullest yet, it does have 275 Nitto N/T 555's out back and they are very grippey through 1st. if i go through a 1st gear roll they dont give up traction till 3k.

i dont even really know the guy really has a mgw shifter on, other than thats what he said it was. whatever it is, it sucks ***, the reach is horrible compared to a normal GT, i have to like lean forward and fully extend my arm to get into 3rd and 5th gears. if it is the mgw and/or its just a cobra thing, im gonna have a buddy make me a custom shifter arm that puts the knob right where youd want it. what im guessing though is its just the shift arm and not the whole assembly since there is a stock shift arm in the stock box he gave me, so its prolly just a crappy shifter arm.

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

that doesnt sound like an MGW. I have an MGW with the orange handle (best of both worlds... or as close as you can get... its hard to design a handle for a stang due to the ****ty oem design of the shifter area)

pop the shift boot and the little protector plate and look and see. You definatly want to go MGW, NO other brand.

Re: Strange Whine under Acceleration?

yeah its a blue handle but didnt say MGW.

it had the allen adjustment and rotate-able upper arm. i turned it around and facing me and holy ****! its like even better as far as reach and comfort than the GT.

i wouldve taken the lower boot off and inspected the shifter assembly but i didnt need to, as after adjusting the knob location, i didnt care what it was cause it felt 100x better.

free mods pwn.
