I was looking at a map of the Middle East....and it dawned on me!!!!

1. The republicans didn't invade Iraq for oil--Iraq is nearing peak production so another 10 years of productive oil flow wouldn't address the long term crises.

2. They didn't care about Iraq's WMDs because we sold some to him and Saddam didn't have the means to deploy large scale.

3. Iraq wasn't a threat to the U.S.

4. They didn't have a hand in 9/11.

So why dammit!?!?!?!

And I think I have figured it out....

a. We have troops in Afghanistan and we installed their leadership.

b. We have troops in Iraq and we created their political infrastructure.

c. We are VERY friendly with the Saudis and Dubai (we are even selling Dubai military vehicles and weapondry).

d. We have troops in Turkministan.

So what right? Anyone play chess? Well, take a look....

This was a powerplay. A checkmate. A calculated move to isolate the one country who has the means, money, land mass, citizen loyalty and desire to be the next Superpower.

And they are enriching uranium.

I truly believe that the war in Iraq was the last component of a powerplay to isolate and surround Iran. And if so, it was strategic brilliance that the republicans kept it out of the public dialog.

I still don't agree with the war in Iraq. But from an academic standpoint, it would be interesting if it was revealed that the war was only a small part of a much larger military gambit--played out over 15 years of diplomacy, war and the like.

Keyser Soze.
Needless to say it kinda makes you think... if something like that was actually planned out... KUDOS.

Sounds like a sound plan to me. I didn't realize that Afghan was right next to Iran either.

ANother note is that for Iran to attack Israel they must launch missiles into our Allies air space which they would never be allowed to do. Nor would they be able to attack with whatever weak air force they have.

Iran is not going to do jack ****. If they make a move it really will be checkmate for them

I would not be surprised if this is indeed the case. I also would not be surprised if Mr. Bin Laden was in Iran right now.

What's even more interesting, perhaps, are the countries that are in the darker color. If you take a close look, you realize that control of these countries would not only mean control many major ports of the Indian Ocean, but also control of the Mediterranean. And anyone who has ever picked up a history book knows that control of the Mediterranean pretty much = control of the world. I say we take this ***** over.

Egypt, you're next.

It is a cool theory. Want to hear another cool one that one could only hope was true?

Spoke with a gentleman this week who has been drilling oil in the gulf for 30 years. When I asked him about this new jackpot they hit, this was his reply.

"Do you know how many jackpots we have hit in the gulf? We have been hitting large pockets of oil for years. When we hit them, we cap them off and mark them on the map for future use. As you know, the mid east oil fields will not last forever. They are running dry. As they start to run dry, we will start un-capping the fields we have found and move into the role as the #1 world oil supplier. This has been the plan all along. Deal with the prices they charge now, and then more than make our money back when they run dry."

That was his reply. sounds spectacular to me, and one can only hope this is true. Now, this is all based on the knowledge of a 30 year oil rig veteran from Louisiana. How much is true, no one can say. but it sure made my fill up @ 2.79 a gallon feel a lot less painfull, even for just those few moments.

what are the speculations of how long the oil we (the world) have will last, when it is said to be running out?

They left out a major component Pakistan which is on our side. I work on the pakistan programs for lockheed and we are selling them C-130's and P-3 recon aircraft. Pakistan is the country directly south along the entire border with Afghanistan. We are indeed playing a good game of chess!!!

Duh. Not to mention the spreading of our ideals in that region. And, so what if we did for oil? That doesn't bother me a bit.

Timothy Zahn's trilogy should be made into the last 3 movies IMO. Thrawn is indeed >*

But no, I would not be the least bit surprised if all this is a chess game. It's not really like we really needed all this to beat that little **** wad country, but it will make it much quicker and decisive. We are all right there surrounding them, retribution will be swift and dreadful, not to mention Israel would like a piece of them too. It would not surprise me either if Bin Laden and the Shah are having a glass of wine even now in the royal palace.

I have often wondered why we had so many chances to get him before 9/11 and now he has been so "elusive". I think it is because he has placed himself somewhere where it would look bad for us to go in and drag him out by his left testicle, most likely Iran. So now , if Iran does make a move, we are ready, and they will be decimated, and "Oh looky at what we found. Just a pile of teeth that have been analyzed to be Osama's. Hmm....".

"outbound flight" by zahn was even better than his original trilogy, imo

if you haven't read it, you should

yeah, Tie Fighter is my all time favorite video game. 10 years later and nobody can even come close to a free-immersion space simulator as fun and addicting as the X-Wing/Tie Fighter series. i just got the Collectors Edition so i can play it on a 98/ME/XP platform, and both Xwing and Tie-Fighers are remastered using the Xwing vs Tie Fighter gaming engine, but still have all the awesome campaign missions just way way better.

i really think instead of doing Prequels, Lucas should have went to Sequels while the lead charecters were still breathing and looked like they did during the original 3, because in a decade well prolly see at least a few of them croak, and they cant make sequels without the real people. though i seriously doubt hes done with star wars, he said hed never do any more star wars movies after the Return of the Jedi, and a decade or two later and look. there is NO WAY in hell this is the end of the big screen star wars franchise, maybe his son will step up to the Sequel task.

anyone got links to those sequel books?
