RIP Mustang

Well, im leaving work and not driving hard at all, just normal day by day driving... im shifting out of 1st and BLAMMMMMMMM BANG BANG BANG BANG i thought i blew my tire out.... about 15 seconds later my g/f goes... holy **** theres smoke now...

so i pull over into this parkinglot and there is oil everywhere. rob and few buddies stayed with me for the 2.5 hours and chilled for the wrecker to come.

/cry maybe threw a rod? maybe blew a gasket? maybe new engine? maybe new car?

rob will throw some pics of it up here soon 8(

Re: RIP Mustang

Oh the carnage. We will be going out to check the car out tomorrow to see, but from the descriptions, the claimed hole in the oil pan, and the trail of oil left, it sounds like a rod let go. We will know for sure sometime tomorrow.

Here are some pics for now...

if its a bottom end, mom doesnt need to know the difference between a 4.2l or a 3.8l kit.

A 5.0 is gonna cost you a lot more than an extra $150. Go with the 4.2.

Re: RIP Mustang

The 5.0 may only cost a little bit more, but the stuff required to swap it is gonna cost a ****load. You can't just throw the 5.0 shortblock in and go.

Re: RIP Mustang

Upon further review...here are the results.

There is a large hole in the drivers side of the crank case...and a smaller hole in the passengers side. The block be dead.

Cody (Stang-Hi ) and I are going to try and talk people into the 4.2 stroker. THere has never been a better time to swap as has been stated already. He has some pics of the holes on his phone but can't do anything with them. Hopefully we can get some pics on a camera to post them.

It's funny how they always seem to let go when they aren't under pressure. Last time I went to the track, two cars blew their motors. Both of them weren't in the 1/8 mile, but rather past the finish line after they had gotten out of the throttle and were slowing down for the return road.

hehe thanks kyle 8)

well, the verdict lies as this:

a.) waiting tomorrow for a phone call from cody to see what he can find and see how much it'll cost for the install.

b.) http://www.supersixmotorsports.com/p...Shotblocks.pdf the 4.2l with forged internals.

c.) HOT new V-6 engine combo!!3.8*4.2L Super Coupe-Mustang (my dad seems to be liking this)

It is what happens when someone runs the car a couple quarts low on oil for an undetermined amount of time. Right Mikey????

As for cost, it will be a minimum of $1000 labor on top of the engine and shipping costs through cody. At least, that is the price he quoted someone that wanted to do an engine swap on his 97 cobra that has a blown engine.

So, figure a couple hundred shipping. + $1000-$1200 labor. + Engine cost. He may throw tuning in there for free...otherwise +$100-$350 for tuning.

He is planning on building a car that will be relatively bullet proof and ready for power adders in the future...and will run strong enough to ruffle some feathers in the mean time.

As for the cool parents concept...if you knew about the modding rules (aka...no mods period)...you might change your mind. Hell, him mom actually pulled a sticker off his car from the speed shop we deal with. Fog lights = no. Tuner = top secret hidden mod. Wheels and Hood scoop took an act of congress to get approved. The engine/another car would come as a result of him having to get back and forth to school and work...

i could see if it was their car, like they bought it and he makes payments to mom and dad.

but even my dad agrees with me, if its my car(IE loan is in my name, i make payments) then its mine to do with as i please. i also know the risks of modding a car and racing it, if i blow it up i also pay to fix it.
