And its been wrecked

Some ****er plowed into me on the interestate this weekend while I was up in ames IA... the rear bumper is pretty scratched up, both quarter panels buckled from the impact, theres all sorts of weird gaps and lack there of gaps between panels, even inside the car seems like it got twisted. Im hoping no frame damage, but if there is, bye bye cobra

Pictures will come tomorrow sometime.

Re: And its been wrecked

that sucks man! Glad you're ok though. Did the 1/4s get pushed into the doors? Wish I was closer and had some cash, I'd pick it up from you if they totalled it out, lol. But seriously, I hope they don't total it, its a clean looking car.

Re: And its been wrecked

they didnt get jammed all the way to the doors... both doors still open fine, but the gaps to the doors are defnitely not right. I dont really know much about body work so I dont know whats fixable and what isnt. Its hard to tell the damage from pictures... its best seen when you see how far inset my rear end is from what it used to be. If you look at any side pictures of my car you'll notice my tailpipes dont hang out from under the bumper at all... well now they do, a good 3"

Re: And its been wrecked

it all depends.

if repairs cost more or are $1000 under what the loan is, its totaled.

if you own it outright then its totaled if the repars equal more than wholesale(or maybe its low bluebook) of the vehicle.

when i got rear ended in the GST, it came out to 7,900$ of damages. i bought the car for 7,500 and a 2 year/2000mi warranty for an extra 2,000, so after TTL my total loan amount was like 10,200$. had i not purchased the warranty they wouldve totaled it out and i wouldve bought my GT a year earlier. then i got an extra 1,500$ for "pain and suffering"(basically got money from a condition i already had), which payed for my turbo/fuel setup on the car. freebies pwn. if you got rear-ended, id make the most of it.

shhh!

zim you are very traumatized from the incident and now suffer sever back and neck pains, which your family chiropractor can testify to, as well as mental anguish, as everytime you drive and have to slow down you cannot help to stare into the rearview to make sure the person behind you stops accordingly. then use the words traumatized and mental anguish like 3 other times and youre in like flint for some moola.

im so going to hell but i dont give a ****.

youre not milking people, youre milking insurance companies, the scum of the earth, even worse than shoe salesmen(anyone a Married: With Children fan?). its your american right to stick it to the man every chance you get.

Do you think Insurance companies just suck up the costs of people suing?

No they don't. They raise the insurance rates for the rest of us to make up for it.

werd, which is why you might as well do it, cause its not like not doing it is going to help anything, at least not in your lifetime.

Re: And its been wrecked

you can usually fight when them to not total it or what not (strike a deal where they sell you the car back cheap or something crazy etc etc who knows) it might wind up being the best thing ever if it is fixed, it will give you a chance to paint the whole car and all that you just have to make sure who ever works on it is extremly qualified to do so.

After I hit the deer and got my car back it was better than it was before I hit it.

Oh hell dude. Glad you are OK. You have to be careful when you have such a large melon for a head. That thing gets whipped around to fast you bust that neck all up!!!!

Again I am sorry about the Cobra. If the doors are not jammed then it is probably a fixable damage and the insurance should take care of you.

I would also get that neck checked out. Injuries to the neck sometimes appear weeks after the wreck. So get it checked soon my friend!!!

True, but if it was Vito down on the corner...that might be a different story.

That sucks Zim. Hopefully it ends up being nothing more than replacing some panels and no major work.

Re: And its been wrecked

the rear quarter panels have to be cut off they dont bolt/unbolt still not a big deal just FYI. Take it to a mod friendly shop that basically says this is how much the items will cost and then you pay the rest to get the items you want.

Also if you tell the insurance company that you do not want used parts (hoods/bumpers/etc) on your car due to it will depreciate the value generally they will allow new parts.

If they give you a fair chunk on the total, though...might make a pretty nice down payment on a redfire '03 Cobra.
