third bike crash

tonight on on of the expressways in rochester a girl was killed on a bike... she was goin over 100mph hit light pole... went across the median hit by a on coming car and dragged by another...

what i dont understand is how ppl can continue drive so recklessly on a bike when they hear the horror stories of other riders involved in fatal crashes... the motorcycle club that she belonged to lost two riders just this summer because they were driving like idiots and were killed

what is every one elses opinion on ppl driving like morons on bikes?

Re: third bike crash

im forcing myself to stay off a bike for that same reason.

once you get to where you feel comfortable the only thing that will slow you down IS to fall. and there are two types of riders, ones who have fallen, and ones who will.

id be the rider with no remorse that goes in between traffic at 90-100 just cause i can, and thats the reason i stick with 4 wheels. though ill probably let my love for sportbikes get the best of me come springtime.

If you do, I'll give you $10 if you write me into your will to get your cobra

no offense, but I don't know anyone still alive who's had a bike.. that hasn't either gotten seriously injured or come so close to it that they gave up riding..

When I was 8 I saw a guy on a motorcycle run a stop sign, hit the side of a car, and plow headlong into the fence of the school (right near my window seat) needless to say he didn't make it.

Screw motorcycles.

well...i think they are sweet but you have to be very disciplined to ride one safely. Even then you aren't guaranteed you won't be hit...

I've wanted one forever, but when it comes down to it, can't make myself buy one b/c I know exactly how I'll drive it.

You sound like a dick...but...I am right there with you. My theory is, if you see bad things and know bad **** will happen if you drive like a moron, then we don't need your genes in the pool. Whether it is a friend or family member of mine or not, doesn't matter. There are higher levels of risk on a bike because they are harder to see, harder to handle, and more suseptable to the environment (rocks, animals, ect) than cars. If you don't respect the ricks and still drive like an ***...here is your one way ticket out of the pool.

On a related note...I want a bike, but I want a cruiser not an uncomfortable crotch rocket.

my problem with -that- is .. even if you don't ever drive like an idiot, there's always other idiots out there, running stop signs, merging without signalling/etc and if you come across one of these idiots and you can't avoid it.. you have no protection at all..

I agree, but just cruising on a bike that is louder than hell you have a better chance of survival than if you are flying down the highway weaving in and out of traffic @100+mph. No matter the bike there are inheirant risks involved. I accept those risks and respect them....which is why I want a cruiser instead of a sport bike.

+1 for sure my buddies been trying to get me to go get a motorcycle permit/license and thats for sure aint happening

Hell an old lady hit one of my good buddies just cruising around town. make it even worse his gf was sittin on the back. He doesnt even know how he did but the dude risked getting his leg crushed between the car and the bike to make sure his girl didnt fall through the windshield

and that right there is the 100% reason why i wont ride a bike nope.
