Weird virus email

Lately I have been browsing online for laptops since I'm going to need one for next summer. Today I wake up and I recieve this email:

I thought it was really freaky and I had to be very cautious towards it. Normally I would just delete these bogus emails but this one was just so coincidental. There was a zip file attached and an exe within it claiming to be the reciept.. I didn't open it though. Also, I checked newegg and there is no sony viao for $2499.99 so im about 99% sure its a virus..

I'd say so. Newegg would never send you an executeable.

I'm guessing it was just a coincidence.

It is probably some spyware that saw you were browsing computers on newegg and then sent you this bogus receipt so that you would open the exe which would then do something bad or open your computer up to them. If you don't have a charge on your card about it, I would just send it to newegg and/or your ISP's abuse center thingy and be done with it. I would also do something to check your system for spyware. I hear panda something or other is pretty good about that kind of stuff...but I don't know.

That's probably more likely than the pure coincidence theory.

Re: Weird virus email

im almost positive its just coincidence. my computer is like a fortress.. nothing gets in and when/if it does, it doesnt last long due to my weekly scans of spyware/viruses. also, to further prove the coincidence part, i was home for the weekend and thats when i was on newegg... i wasn't on newegg on this computer at school. i forgot about that.

Re: Weird virus email

You probably had an alien observing you while you were shopping for laptops. They then decided to insert a virus into your computer's anus, just to mess with you. Those aliens are pretty weird.
