stupid insurance..........

So now my insurance sends me a paper showing the premium on the cobra to be 600$ for the next 6 months, smack dab in GT territory. but then this only shows the cobra on the account, and none of my families other cars.

im so confused with them. first its "oh itll be cheaper than the GT since its an auxilary vehicle on your account" to "well, it is a cobra" to "well we dont know what the hell we are doing anymore so were just going to keep sending you random paperwork with different numbers and cars each time".

Re: stupid insurance..........

Have you looked at other insurance companies. I've heard that its good to switch companies every so often because they'll give you lower rates to try to bring you to them.

Re: stupid insurance..........

you should go down there and stay until you get a direct clear answer and take it home in writing or via a statment. You sould be able to put the car on a low milage (weekend car) and make sure its on the same listing as your parents cars to get a multiple car discount.

Re: stupid insurance..........

yeah my Grandpa is my agent, My explorer is my #1 car, the Mustang is "weekend car" and because I live at home, altho I have my own insurance, I get a discount for all the cars in the family and my house. so I get a good deal just from knowing what to look for and ask for.

Re: stupid insurance..........

100 a month for full coverage (if the deductable is low) is a pretty good deal for your car in CA.

Re: stupid insurance..........

yeah the new total, per month, is 172 for the GT and the Cobra.

so lets see
Cobra payment = 420$
GT Payment = 265$
Insurance = 172$

so around 850$ for both cars a month. kinda weak, cause im paying for a car i hate driving (the GT) but im ****ed cause nobody wants them. im trying to pawn it off on my sister(like i did the tbird) but she has no money.

Re: stupid insurance..........

maybe you can sell it soon... might have to take a money hit on it but its better than keeping it forever.

Re: stupid insurance..........

yeah but the loan is still 13,000ish on the GT. i cant go any under that unless i put money down, and so far the closest people said theyd take it for 11k. id be willing to bite 500$ to give it to a good home, but if nobody wants it for 12.5k then its going to sit. ill prolly drive it when it rains because the Cobra is pretty un-manageable in 2nd gear on dry pavement, i dont wanna see how slow i have to merge onto the freeway when its raining to avoid slipping all over the place, whereas i dont really have to worry about that with the GT.

btw insurance is Allstate.

Re: stupid insurance..........

Bah. Trade in the GT for a used econobox. The trade in value will probably even out the cost of the econobox and now you still have 2 vehicles, but one is paid off, or nearly.

Re: stupid insurance..........

but he wont get any where near the pay off on the GT thus he will have to shift the remaining loan to the new car aka digging a deeper debt hole for himself.

Re: stupid insurance..........

just save save save and get the loan paid down and then sell it, and hopefully as you are paying it down to sell you can get a better price on it. You could try ebaying it for 40 bucks~

Re: stupid insurance..........

nah if i went that route id keep it. if its paid off, id stick the insurance on it to liability only, and that would cost like 35$ a month. then id prolly start tearing the motor and tranny out for my 5.4L forged 4v 6spd Procharged nitrous fed GT500 killer.
