XP 64 OS question

I am about to put my new computer together and need a question answered. Will all programs that run on the 32 XP OS run on the XP 64 OS???

Re: XP 64 OS question

They're supposed to, but (there's always a but...) I had issues with some of my games not running under XP64.

Re: XP 64 OS question

ive only had issues with second rate programs running on x64. iTunes doesnt work with it. games that are a little older may have issues unless you can find a x64 patch for them (i think i had to do this in Homeworld2). as far as newer games, they run just fine. i dint think this matters, but i have all my games stored on a seperate 60gb drive (10,000rpm one) than the OS, my OS is on a 20gb cheapo drive, and i have a 60gb for mass storage(mp3, movies, pr0n).

youll love the quickness x64 gives, especially when going through your directories, just lightning fast. i like to tell people "my pc no longer thinks, it just does".

btw im upgrading soon to a 2.2ghz Toledo dual core, 2gb ram and sata hard drives in raid configuration when Vista comes out.

I have a Abit KN8 Ultra Motherboard and a AMD Athlon64 X2 4200+ Socket 939pin Processor. I just need to make sure I have covered my basis on the programs. My wife's geneology programs are mainly my only concern that they operate on XP 64

Re: XP 64 OS question

well x64 should be able to run most normal xp capible programs fine, but sometimes it just has trouble with them. id check with the programs maker to see if its compatible.
