Re: So I put my cc plates and lowering springs on and Now Im Pissed

Wow...that's my only reaction to this. I would definitely get the wheels you want out of this, along with a new set of tires to fit them. Also, carry your car asap to a good shop and have all the work checked out, and add that bill to the suit to ensure the work was done correctly.

As bbunt said, the strut hitting the hood is because they did not properly install the c/c plates. You, or a shop, will need to take the struts back loose, and adjust the spacers to where the strut does not hit the underside of the hood. I have a 1/8 inch space between my hood and my strut after adjusting these spacers properly.

Also, be sure to fully document with pictures and writing everything that has happened. They sound like a few shops around here that no longer get business from anyone I know.

And also, when you go to get an alignment, make sure the shop knows what they are doing. I paid a little more than I was planning to to have my tires mounted and balanced and an alignment, but the shop I finally chose were experts at it and had it done in a very timely manner and most importantly to my specifications and approval.

Best of luck to you with all of this, and I just pray the business pays for all the damage and then some.

thats weird the struts were hitting your hood... must just be the hood because if the spacers are like that underneath as well, thats exactly how mine is set up.

Sucks about the wheels... thats terrible.

Re: So I put my cc plates and lowering springs on and Now Im Pissed

OK here is a problem I faced and is somewhat more common on aftermarket hoods. This in not the first time I have the threads of the strut shaved or grinded down. When I had my UPR Shark plates the tips of the strut touched the underneath side of my hood and but abrasion marks until I grinded on them a bit.

They did seem to take more off off than they should have. Hell in looking at it again they ground off all the slot so you could tighten or loosen the retention nuts. With this shops poor performance I would definately check have the installation checked out.

Not sure, maybe because the hoods fiberglass the mold wasnt exactly the same on each side. You just never know... Can you take a picture of the underside of the hood? I wanna see how it compares to a stock hood.

Honestly it could any reason on my car the drives side needed way more adjustment than the passenger side and as Zim has said the hood might be slightly off on one side.

Re: So I put my cc plates and lowering springs on and Now Im Pissed

Different cars will need to have the spacers in different places though, mostly due to the springs. There should not be that many spacers above the strut tower if the strut is sticking up that far.

You are supposed to run a string from one fender to another above the struts. Then measure the distance between the string and the top of the struts. You choose the number of spacers on top and bottom based on this measurement.

It's obvious that they didn't do this and just threw the spacers on there at random. It's not the hood's fault. If done correctly, the struts will be just as high as they were with the stock springs and camber plates.

yeah, im definitely gonna have to say its the hood. Those grooves look nothing close to as deep as even my stock hood. Id say its just a deal with how it was molded, now that you shaved it down and its fine you shouldnt have problems.

Guys... it's not the hood.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound like an ***. But look at the spacers. Now sit there and imagine for a second if they were underneath the strut tower instead of above it. It would lower the strut the height of the spacers. Then there would be absolutely no problem.

I take it the hood didn't hit with the stock springs and camber plates?

If so there is absolutely no reason it should hit now.

The thing comes with 8 spacers, 4 for each plate. Theres also 2 underneath there... mines set up the same way, look. Its hard to see, but you can see I have 2 spacers on top... and also put them in the exact same configuration underneath. Those plates ARE installed right, its the hood.

I have mine installed the same way as Zim. The stock hood has a groove cut out for the strut tower.. I don't see the same groove on her hood.

I'd add new struts to the list of thing they need to pay for. There's no way you can assure you can even take those struts out without the slit in the top. Wow...I don't even know what to say besides that shop would be screwed if it was me.

exactly how much hood clearance there is. If hood

Remember that the hood to strut shaft clearance will

It's not the hood.

Your argument makes no sense whatsoever. Why did it the hood clear before lowering and installing the C/C plates?

If you can't look at that picture and tell that the strut is sticking way too far up out of the strut tower then you may need to buy a new monitor.

Thats not a problem with the plates install. Its the hood and Ill stand by that. Look at the TINY knotches that are in her underside of the hood to allow those towers to come into. If I had my car here with me Id go take a picture of how deep mine are, so Im saying its the hood and will continue to believe that regardless of what you might think. Ive had first hand installation experience with these things, and after trying all sorts of spacer configurations, they always ended up the same way. When i had 3 spacers underneath and 1 on top, that just made a huge gap between the strut nut and the spacer. Its the hood, plain and simple

Have you ever installed a set of these or even looked at some? The strut position DID NOT CHANGE no matter how I configured the spacers. It just didnt. Not to mention when you get to the part where it TRIES to explain the whole spacer thing, the instructions are the most unclear things Ive ever read.

ITS NOT THE PLATES, IT IS THE HOOD. If its the plates, why didnt both struts hit the hood? The spacers are exactly the same so they should be in the exact same place on the hood right? NO, the hood is either different from each side from the fiberglass mold or the indents for the strut towers are not deep enough. My vote goes for both.
