As long as they have no threat of being drafted... they will.

Even if they did have a threat of being drafted, they'd still be dumb enough to support it.

Re: Democrats Trying To Reinstate the Draft

Wait...I thought the big thing I keep hearing from Dems is that we shouldn't be at war, that it's just W carrying on his daddy's war. So now, we're going to draft (read in unwilling here) young men (and women apparently) into a war W. simply started to carry on his father's wishes.

If it comes down to it, I really don't mind serving, too bad they won't let me in willingly without a boat load of papers.

Well see, that's my thing, all branches of the service have no hardware policies. I'd need a ton of waivers to get in.

Re: Democrats Trying To Reinstate the Draft

I wouldn't mind serving if I were ordered to, I'm proud of my country, rights and freedoms, and all the people I know in it..

That said I would not willingly volunteer

1) I'm a whimp, I have stamina, and some strength but nothing like a soldier
2) I get motion sick realllly badly.. I'm very sensitive to it.. so navy/airforce is out
3) I feel bad if I hit a squirrel, I'm sure shooting to save your own *** is different but I know I'd feel bad the rest of my life about it
4) I'm a flatfoot.. is that still an issue?
and lastly
I wouldn't be able to access ME every day!

1) few months in boot will turn that right around
2) dramamine ftw!
3) its different if its youre job, and even more different since its the enemy, and their sole purpose is to do the same to you.
4) wtf is a flatfoot?

if you go in as an IT/Networks specialist you will still have net access.

i too feel the same way. im too much of a pansy to willingly make it through boot, though i heard during draft times, its alot easier since theyre main goal is as many troops as possible in and out as quickly as possible. but if i got drafted, i would not even hesitate to show up the next day ready and willing to fight and die for my country.

though i highly doubt we need a draft, we just need better equipment and the ability to give the field commanders in their repsective theatres the ability to fight the war as they please, and not have to report to the Commander in Chief if they can or cannot do a bomb drop at a certain location everytime such scenario presents itself.

A foot, that is flat.

Its when you don't have an arch in your foot. It makes it hard to march for long periods of time. I am flatfooted as hell. I don't think its still an issue but I'm not sure.

Re: Democrats Trying To Reinstate the Draft

We just need to stop following the Geneva convention

We'd be out of there in one push of a button

nah i give it two pushes, like WWII.

first, theyre like "WTF Was that? OMG did the Americans just go nukuler on us?" and the second push would be like "**** that, we quit"

they did run on that platform, but they are just doing the same thing Nixon did back in the 60's. he claimed that if he was elected president he would bring home the troops from Nam and end the draft. after he was elected he had hundreds of thousands more drafted.

i'm sure that if i ran on the platform that if i was elected i would get all of the ugly guys ***** and all of the fat girls dick, i would be elected in a landslide vote. doesn't mean i'll get it for you though. nor would i even try. do you see my point? it's just empty promises to get the votes. welcome to the world of politics.

Re: Democrats Trying To Reinstate the Draft

I would have no problem whatsoever serving. In fact, if not for being stuck for 4 years regardless, I would probably be sighned up already. I just haven't been able to bring myself to enlist to something that will be you life (like it or not) for 4 years, but if the new draft is still 2 years like the old, I would not mind that.
I don't think it will go through though.
