Unhappy ****ty Night At Work

I was at work tonight and everything was going great until we went to test a new Die that we just finished building, and wouldn't you know that the first part that we hit got buggard up and stuck in the Die section with a pretty big nitrogen cylinder under it, putting probably several thousand pounds of preassure on the part. So when I went to try to get the part out (which by the way is very dangerous, and you have to be very careful doing it) it all of a sudden just blow out of the die section with my left hand about a foot above it.

So heres a jagged piece of .020 sheet metal being shot into my hand, and it sounded like it was being fired from a canon or something. The part shot straight up in the air, hit my hand and land about 100 or so feet away from were I was at. I'm pretty lucky it didn't do a lot worse than it did though,(like taking off my hand) but it put about a 3 to 3 1/2 inch long gash deep in my palm, took the very tip of my pink and part of my nail off, and slit about a 1 1/2 inch cut along the side of my ring finger. The cut on my palm is nasty, the cut on there was really open and not at all a clean cut, it even had muscle tissue sticking out.

I lost so much blood that I was getting sleepy as hell.

The doctor stitched it up and said that I should be fine in a few weeks, so I guess I should be thankful that it didn't end up worse, because it very well could of, and maybe should of. Beside I get some payed time off of work, but it does suck not being able to use one of your hands, typing this is taking me forever.

Sucks man. Something similar happened to my friend this summer. He lost half of his pinky and they had to reattach 2 of his other fingers.

If they fire you because you got hurt on the job you can sue them for wrongful termination. Workman's comp ftw.

Yeah I didn't get fired just a big safety lecture. They will fire a Temp quick for a work related injury though, I'm not sure if that legel are not though.

BTW I'm feel much better. I'm very suprised that I am this soon. I'm even typing with my left hand, though I cant bend or use my thumb much. Vicodin is a very good pain releaver, now I just need to get some Alchohol :zim: or maybe some Bud :smoke:.

J/K, I don't smoke anymore.

See, that's why you had the accident. If you would have been high, you would also have been paranoid that something like that would happen.

Marijuana saves lives people.

Anyway, it's good to see that you're feeling better already.
